Old enough to know when something is absurd and ridiculous and arrogant for that matter. You signed up for this forum what 6 weeks ago and you are confronting people like you own the place? Tisk tisk.

We still don’t know which design will be chosen, but this would be perfectly fine. We’d be seeing complaints about whatever is chosen. This would be perfectly fibe for the Hudson Yards. You could even say needed.

I suspect that this will be selected, and I'll be elated. This is amazing. Only in New York!

I'm curious if there are terraces on the eastern facade, and if that offsets the offsets a little. It's like the western facade is hollowed out. I would imagine there are terraces on the other side, but we haven't seen it.

I would like this one far more if the base and top had the same width and it narrowed in the middle, rather than starting out narrow and widening linearly.

It would instead be a concave arc of symmetrical setbacks and cantilevers

There’s an article here, with maybe more details. But I can’t get it.

God I hate this building so much. Especially because it's so tall. I already do not love the design of CPT so if they build THIS too I think it'll really hinder the beauty of NYC's skyline

I actually don't think it's tall enough!

Looking at all the new, shiny glass towers going up in Hudson Yards, I think this would at least be a break from that, in both appearance and height...

Maybe I'm in the minority but I kind of like it aside from the cantilevered angle, which is ugly.

Tower Fifth on the other hand is way worse IMO.

Am I correct in assuming this proposal is basically visionary and doesn't actually stand any real chance of being built?

Tbh, Tower Fifth isn’t ugly to me since there’s nothing ugly about it. Besides, Tower Fifth looks good and dang futuristic. But they should probably rename it since we know it’s in the Fifth Avenue duh. Let’s see what Macklowe is going to say about this Affirmation Tower’s height. Gain it or lose it.

You know, when I first saw this I was downright repulsed by it, but just now I looked at it again and found it only mildly ugly, so I might get used to it eventually:

It would look great being worn by one of these guys, but actually built not so much...

They should update that with 175 Park, One Vanderbilt, Steinway (who could fit it?), Brooklyn Tower, 53W53, the Spiral, 30 Hudson, 270 Park (it would be invisible), and imagine Tower Fifth and this proposal included in the mix.

By the time this actually gets built, if it ever does, we will be used to seeing buildings that stand out or look top heavy.

I can’t see this not being built. It seems to have a smallish office component, a huge hotel component, and perhaps some residential. Therefore, it doesn’t seem to be one of these enormous office towers that requires a large anchor commitment.
