Give it a bit. Some of these folks will be banned. No need to abandon ship over it.

Perhaps this would be a great time to remind folks there is a great "Block" function to block trolls, abusive posters, etc.

I agree, West Quarter Phase II is fire! I like how the taller tower is turned and not perpendicular to the street, as well as the overall design. Nothing like it in Salt Lake. Will be a welcomed addition! Thanks Atlas and others for sharing these new renderings. Orlando, always enjoy looking at your future skyline 3-D models. 200 S is going to start to feel real urban from west to east with all the great development going on. Do you know what the building is on the far west next to the transit hub? Looks to be 15-20 stories maybe.

Really hope the contributors to this forum don’t leave over different opinions and some loud mouths. Been following for years and just recently joined. Always felt like I belonged to this community given my interest, but just never got around to joining until recently. Would be a shame if the conversations and contributions died down now. I don’t have much to contribute other than my opinions on what contributors share.

Who's the current moderator? Time for them to clean this mess up. Stenar, please don't feed the negativity. Just ignore it and stay on topic.

And I'm loving these new West Quarter designs! The old renderings were fine but "office park"-esque. The new ones are primo! Might be the best project in SLC now, in terms of sheer size, mix of uses, pedestrian engagement, and now design.

I agree! This has some nice architectural diversity. It wins big on style points for me. As is always a point on contention, let’s hope it comes to fruition at least 80-90% like it looks like in these renderings.

Agree Orlando. If we want quick action to clean up those posts it's always best to ask Cottonwood. Even though he's in Boise he is at least active with the forum checking in regularly throughout the day and more than happy to help us out when needed.

I would not recommend that people be suspended or banned, just delete the toxic posts. Unless of course, it's a regularly recurring problem.

You know, the first time around I was not a fan of the Olympic bid.

Then I ended up working for SLOC and it changed my whole opinion about the whole thing. TBH, I’m 1000000% on board with SLC getting another turn at hosing the world. Let’s hope the USOPC comes off its duff and picks a year for us to bid on soon. 🤞🏻

Lol, we did bribe the Olympic committee. Maybe he was referring to that? JK.

Anyway, thanks for all those tid bits of information Makid! I like hearing about all the rumors and possibilities people are looking at for developments. Even if they are mostly speculative. Can you provide any more details about the 40 story tower that was moved by the tire shop? I seem to remember a little discussion about this a while back. I need a refresher if you can and have the time. Who might the developer be if you can divulge. It’s nice to have locals in the know!

Jesus Christ! Could you sound more like a moron? Your first two posts are very illuminating. Glad you showed your cards so quickly. The "Add to Ignore List" just got a bit longer.

I move to block whatever troll this is. Annoying how every new member always “announces” that they’re new in their posts With some BS excuse of why it’s their first post. Sus.

I come here for the quality development content. If this guy is allowed to keep posting this crap then I’m out, too. Will be strictly Reddit so i can downvote shit like this into oblivion.

Also, please come back, blah!

I have seen this pattern of trolls appear after there is an argument between Forumers. over and over, since I first joined. That was before the gateway was even built. Some people leave and some trolls get blocked. Although I did like Blah and I do consider it a loss, this whole thing will happen again in a few years. Chillax people. You can disagree and ignore trolls at the same time. I swear. SMH cuz some of you are grown adults.

The 40+ Story tower wasn't moved, just the development priority. The plan was that Astra would come first and once it was completed and mostly filled, plans would move forward for a bigger residential project (40+ stories) to replace the Brighton Bank building.

Things shifted after Worthington announced their project (Convexity) and the developers were able to purchase the tire shop across from the Convexity Tower. This site was pushed to the #2 position and Brighton Bank is now #3.

I don't know what the plans are for replacing the tire shop but as we have seen with Astra, they aren't afraid to go through the design review process to build above the 375' D1 corner as of right height limit.

Pretty cool. Hopefully they keep the Firestone sign and incorporate it. "Firestone Tower" has a nice ring to it.
