If Calgary did build a new stadium and forego the roof canopy that adds to the cost that occurred in Winnipeg you can save some coin on that. A smaller version of Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins Colorado that cost 220 million might be doable as a similar climate to that of Calgary.

Part of what triggered IG Field's construction in Winnipeg was, strangely enough, an incident where a heavily inebriated alcoholic fan fell to his death at CanadInns Stadium. It became apparent that bringing CanadInns Stadium up to even basic code compliance was going to cost far more than it was worth.

I'm pretty confident that Calgary will be able to get something done. Obviously all of the city's sports venue energy right now is being directed at a new arena, but once that's done the stadium will be next in line. That's basically how it played out here in Winnipeg.

Argos won nail bitter against ti cats and now sit firmly in first in the east at 6-3. Hopefully with jays out they get more media attention in the gta.

I managed to catch the 4th quarter and it was a thriller of a finish with a spectacular TD catch followed by a 51 yard field goal to cap the comeback for the Argos. The east is turning into a close race.

^ The ball was at the 44 and it was a 51 yard attempt. But either way, a 50+ yard walkoff FG was enough to make this Bomber fan envious.

Argos win in dramatic fashion on Thanksgiving beating their rivals the Tiger Cats on a walk off field goal...that is the best way to win a game if you ask me

...and the worst way to lose one.

I had to miss that game (family Thanksgiving dinner) but the Ticats had better start putting some points on the board. They finally moved the ball better, according to the stats, but that doesn't matter if the results are 0s and 3s.

So for the Grey Cup game in Hamilton there will be no expansion. And Hamilton will host another Grey Cup game in 2023

Interesting that Hamilton didn't have a Grey Cup game for 25 years, and now they get 2 in 3 years?

I assume it's 2-fold. They aren't going to be able to make nearly the same money they would if it was non-covid, and they already have everything planned and can just delay implementation.

Yeah, interesting. So I guess they get to host this year, but it won't be the "real thing" in terms of all the revenue generating opportunities. But 2023 will be the real moneymaker for them.

Regina hosts in 2022. I hope Winnipeg bids for 2024. It would be nice to host a Grey Cup when the team isn't crap, because that really kills local interest in the game. That happened in 1998 and 2015. The team was OK in 2006 and not surprisingly that was the only one of the three most recent Grey Cups held in Winnipeg where they didn't have any trouble selling tickets.

Likely due to Toronto cfl interest so poor they can't host it there and the Big O in Montreal the roof issue has not been resolved so you only have Hamilton and Ottawa as viable eastern hosts right now.

3downnation reporting Elks are putting Trevor Harris on the trade block and Montreal is interested with Vernon Adams being injured. Also Argos are shopping Nick Arbuckle around as Macbeth has had a much better record this year as starter. Hopefully Ottawa can get a legitimate QB this winter from this.

Not much of a trap Bombers won a sloppy game but lost Harris in the process to a knee injury. Bombers better atleast try and get a decent kicker now to compensate come playoff time.
