Anyways, I echoed this same sentiment 12-13 years ago when the dreaded "scope change" phrase was uttered here, but now I'm looking at the project and wonder if we would have seen the much-needed Nordel / 91 interchange upgrade component HAD they went with building the Sunbury Interchange right away...

It is good to see the 17-91 movements being built as a package, but I guess I don't deal with the insane traffic around there. Here's hoping it all helps... a lot!

The iteration of the Sunbury interchange being built now is superior to the original one proposed 12 years ago, so there is that, what sucks is the loss of the other interchanges.

That said, when this and the new Pattullo are complete you will be able to get from New Westminster to Tswwassen with only one traffic light in the way (the return trip obviously isn’t as direct in getting on the Patullo).

So the western two thirds of the SFPR will be one traffic light away from being a full freeway.

The eastern third will need a couple large interchange upgrades, especially at the GEW connector.

Not much of a freeway with the 80km/h speed limit, but I'll take it. I drove by yesterday and there is a lot going on.

Please remind me again, is driving from Tsawwassen to Alex Fraser Bridge and back going to be free-flowing or am I still going to hit traffic lights?

Yep, still the Tilbury Connector light. Is that site going to be our new 72nd ave / 91 spot? Should be built by... 2035 in that case.

There will also be one additional light just before you take the on-ramp from the Highway 91 Connector onto AFB, although it is only for the low-volume Nordel Way WB to Highway 91 SB movement.

why is the SFPR still 80 km/hr? This highway could easily be 110 km/hr, but at the minimum, should be 100 km/hr.

There's no way in hell I'm doing 110 in some parts given how lumpy the road is. I'll launch the car.

Also 110 makes no sense when we still have a stretch that is max 50.

So that Delta cops in unmarked vehicles can easily ticket you, because yes, for the most part you can easily and naturally go 110 km/h. P. S. I wasn’t ticketed for speeding there, however saw speeding traps many times in the past.

I’m pretty sure that save for the section with the railroad crossing (I think that spur’s days are numbered hence why they didn’t grade separate) that is currently 50 (wonder how much that will change with the new bridge and traffic light removal) the SFPR was designed to 110 km/h standards (which are posted as 100 km/h). I think the 80 km/h speeds are just a political / community decision.

Driven it a few times myself and if you can’t handle driving 100 on it, we’ll you probably shouldn’t be driving.

i can drive it at 110 and never have any problems. both in an SUV and roadster type car, so...

The road easily allows for 110km/h speeds, but I always stick to 92km/h using adaptive cruise control, as cops with radar are so common on this highway. I am always the slowest driver on the road with my 510 horse power car.

i hear there's an unwritten rule that if traffic is generally going 110, cops wont bother to pull anyone over, but i for one am not tempting fate going 30 over on any stretch of road, especially SFPR when it's littered with speed traps.
