Anyways, I echoed this same sentiment 12-13 years ago when the dreaded "scope change" phrase was uttered here, but now I'm looking at the project and wonder if we would have seen the much-needed Nordel / 91 interchange upgrade component HAD they went with building the Sunbury Interchange right away...
It is good to see the 17-91 movements being built as a package, but I guess I don't deal with the insane traffic around there. Here's hoping it all helps... a lot!

The iteration of the Sunbury interchange being built now is superior to the original one proposed 12 years ago, so there is that, what sucks is the loss of the other interchanges.
That said, when this and the new Pattullo are complete you will be able to get from New Westminster to Tswwassen with only one traffic light in the way (the return trip obviously isn’t as direct in getting on the Patullo).
So the western two thirds of the SFPR will be one traffic light away from being a full freeway.
The eastern third will need a couple large interchange upgrades, especially at the GEW connector.
