Nice to see the block taking shape. I still get the impression that they are still not sure what they will be putting on top of the tower foundation. I won’t be surprised to see that portion slow way down after they have it to ground level.

^ well, Lmichigan posted the following over at SSC yesterday:

Still weird how opaque Bedrock has been with this development.

So it sounds like the agonizingly long wait for more solid info on the tower will unfortunately continue on.

Bedrock can't finalize the height or total square footage of the tower until the hotel operator has been identified. In late 2020, they were hoping this would happen sometime in 2021: https://www.crainsdetroit.com/voices-kir...otel-operator-be-named-next-year-bedrock

I thought somebody here was told by Bedrock themselves that a hotel was chosen and an announcement would be made later.

I hope this means there's a tiny possibility of them going just barely above the Ren Cen in height, just to have the title of tallest. They're so fucking close all it would take is a few more floors of apartments or some ornamentation.

Yeah, that was me. We're supposed to be hearing an announcement on the operator soon. Hopefully finalized renderings and a finalized height will be announced along with it.

Do we know if any or how many floors of the "block" building will be parking?

Down the street, 10 of the 21 floors of the under construction TCF Tower are parking.

Zero floors will be parking. All parking is entirely underground. This has been well known.

Why is this your first post? I smell a troll.

Also, it’s now the Huntington Tower. (At least until the bank changes its name again!)

Its definitely a troll, there's a guy who makes multiple accounts and has been trolling this project for years. One of his trolling shticks is pushing a conspiracy about the office block portion secretly being a giant parking garage. This site rarely gets new members so it's not a coincidence.

Agreed - the official HudsonSite camera needs to be pulled back further, and / or set with a wider angle to capture more of the entire site.

Frankai posted a new video showing the tower's core has finally risen above street level and work has begun on the 4th floor of the block, which he erroneously states is the 5th floor. The 3rd floor is completely framed in currently.

Look at the last picture posted in this thread. Notice the floorplate of the 3rd floor doesn't extend to the exterior columns. That's why he said 5th floor.

The tower core starts to rise about 50 seconds into yesterday's webcam video. I have marked that time point here:

Lower Height

Haven't logged on this site in ages. Looking to read up on the height change downward. Bummed about that.

Thanks,
