Maybe it's a "rough patch". But there are all ages of people in all areas. Shouldn't matter where the location is.

802 Main St. Fire

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the big fire at the Beveridge Block (802 Main St.) Tuesday. I heard that southbound trasffic was detoured for a while this morning.

The Beveridge block building isn’t too bad I hope they can find a way to restore it but that pawn shop is an utter travesty. Hopefully they can find some suitors for that property

You'd have to be very brave as a developer to build in that area.

Buildings along that strip of North Main have gradually come down one by one over the years, mostly as a result of fires. And when they come down the lots tend to stay vacant... off hand the only substantial buildings I can think of that have been built along that stretch of Main in the last 50 years are the North Point Douglas Manor, and maybe the Credit Union/Kalyna Building at Flora and Main.

I can't imagine anyone building anything on the site of the Beveridge Block anytime soon. It's a regrettable loss as it was a nice building that had potential to be rehabilitated into something special if North Main's fortunes ever turned.

Private developers probably wouldn't look to build there, but I could see some sort of social program housing, similar to the units being built by the Pollards.

I just read The Beveridge Block is a goner. 802 Main St.
It seems from what I read in The Wpg Free Press in an update today that it suffered substantial damages & appears it can not be saved.
I agree it is yet one more loss of a decent looking structure on N main.
Another turn of the century building gone.
It might not be a stunner but it had some nice detailing considering it had little attention in decades.
Another tooth lost in the North Main St dentition.

some new builds around St Anne’s Rd, Creek Bend and Perimeter area.

180 Creek Bend Rd
proposed 5 story 152 rental unit

120 Creek Bend Rd (Oxbow 4)
proposed 4 story 50-70 rental units

1269 St Anne’s Rd
proposed retail strip mall with either a Tim Hortons or McDonald’s

area residents are asking form delay on all projects to make sure St Anne’s and Creek Bend have proper safety upgrades and are ready for more traffic to come once the new bridge is built for the business traffic from Melnick & Amie Rd

There’s already a few hundred suites on Creek Bend and that intersection definitely becoming dangerous. Adding another 200 will only make things worse. I see the attraction, close to city limits for cottagers, beautiful walking paths along Seine, retail close by. Great place for empty nesters.

Grading on the new service road was supposed to start around now. All the articles I read said late 2021!

There is a 12 Storey proposal for this site.

Does this mean the Pemby is being demolished, or the building being built adjacent?
