SEA is AS's primary hub so it will return even if on a DH4.

SEA is not DL's primary hub, so they may drop the service and tell WS to fly it as it's within range of the DH4 Encore fleet.

SEA is one of DL smaller hubs. It is also an airport with limited free gates. It could potentially be a good addition to WS.

It won't let me post in there for some reason, but I honestly don't know the accurate answer as there were several airlines both pax and cargo that operated between YYC-YEG.

WestJet today announced that it is launching a new dedicated cargo service, using 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF), as dedicated aircraft, to fulfill the larger-scale needs of Canadian businesses, freight forwarders, shippers and individual customers. The first of these dedicated 737-800BCFs are expected to be in service by the second quarter of 2022.

WS announced it will still launch flights to YYG starting July 29th. Originally suppose to start in June 2020.

By the end of July, WS domestic network from YYC will have almost been completely restored (by destination).

How is Westjet’s Amsterdam flight going to work with KLM? Are they going to codeshare? Seems odd they compete with KLM.

WS August long-haul update (as of June 27):
LGW - 2x weekly
CDG - 1x weekly (from August 20)
AMS - 2x weekly

They also randomly added an extra flight to LAX in late July.

Also advance bookings for LAS in July are very good and it wouldn't surprise to see a few extra flights thrown in, and possibly increased to daily in August.

WS and KL have a codeshare already. Jury is out if they'll throw their code on each other's flights. WestJet's flights are only currently scheduled from August 5-October 31, and not scheduled in 2022 as of yet.

Just saw they've now added gates 87-97 to con D for domestic/international flights. Those gates use to be solely Transborder gates. This means they would have had to build hoarding/glass walls to keep the Transborder area separated.

I'm not getting why they can't just re-open Concourse A. It would have been far less complicated to implement.

Also WS resumes LAX, LAS and LGW today. LAX was last flown in late February, LAS in late January and LGW in October.

LAX & LAS both look 85-90% full, while LGW looks about 60-65% full.

ATL is back on Thursday and it also appears to be pretty full.

If someone would have told me five years ago that this is what the IFP would be used for in mid-2021 I would have thought they were out of their mind.

Can't imagine the (long and confusing) walk for those poor souls trying to connect from an inbound domestic Air Canada flight arriving at gate C50-something to tonight's AC 8479 departing to Grande Prairie out of gate D92.

I guess 17 times the charm for YYC-FRA? Should be noted they also included this route in a press release a year ago as well.

I mean I get wanting to use that large new terminal you just spent billions on, but wouldn't it make more sense to re-open an existing domestic concourse before spending more money to convert US only gates into swing gates.

Particularly with international/US demand starting to recover.

Just used the gates in the new terminal. It's not confusing as it's well signed but it is long and the worst is that people don't expect they'll have to make the long walk if they are familiar with the airport in normal times. It is one of those walks that feels like it keeps on going especially when you're cutting it close to departure time. Not just a problem for connections though it's also a problem for those checking in and using the B security lanes or the Westjet lounge. There is NO communication about how far the walk is from agents or signage. I did see some senior citizens making the haul pushing a wheel chair and I doubt they thought they would have to hike so far.

Planes have had to be held for passengers showing up at the gate late. The airlines know it's a problem but Westjet is forced into those gates. I guess the cost of running concourse A is more than installing some glass partitions and running the airport out of the new terminal.

Because of the storm last night in YYC, our aircraft was directed to 84 at midnight. What a long, confusing walk to the rest of the concourses! Wishing the little inter concourse tram (not currently operating) would have been built all the way to the end!

WS alone later this month will have up to 5 US departures during the 10am bank with flights to LAX, LAS, PHX, PSP, SFO (and ATL on Sundays). Which is why it puzzles me why they just won't use concourse A which doesn't require them to hoard off half of Transborder.

A year ago when we had like no international offerings I could see this as being viable, but with a very busy winter season coming up and airlines ramping up their schedules I can't imagine the money they are sinking into putting in new glass partitions being worth it? But then again, what do I know?

Also it seems many of the departures using the ITB gates are departing late. Which tells me this wasn't properly or efficiently planned.

LAS - 10x weekly
LAX - 1x daily
ATL - 1x daily
PHX - 5x weekly-1x daily
PSP - 2-4x weekly
SFO - 2x weekly

LGW - 2x weekly
AMS - 2x weekly
CDG - 1x weekly (from Aug 20)
PVR - 1-2x weekly
CUN - 1x weekly

Along with AC re-adding FRA / PHX August is looking to be a pretty busy month. We will go from 2 flights to Europe to 5 in August.

I wouldn't be surprised if AMS gets canned before start. Netherlands COVID cases are up 800% since reopening less than two weeks ago and they're about to re-instate significant restrictions.

I don't think there will be much demand for YYC-Netherlands traffic this summer, on either end.

US flights should do well, especially if the border closure is not renewed on July 21st as many are predicting.

Look's like I missed a few increases, as SFO gradually goes up to 4x weekly, CUN to 2x weekly.

Given how difficult it is to get AMS slots, I wonder if WS will just bite the loss and operate the flights anyways.

They probably would have had better luck with FCO or BCN this Summer.
