Well Polestar IS Volvo so no surprise there.

I would think Rivian will have an outlet here in short order too.

Polestar on the other hand awarded their agency's to their existing (volvo) dealer network. The Vancouver location is owned by GAIN which operates a number of franchises on the island but has no locations in Vancouver.

They temporarily took over the old Mini Vancouver space Yaletown and had their signage up for a permanent location on Seymore but that signage has since been removed and a realtors sign with "sold" has been put there. They also have a somewhat odd location at Park Royal. I am wondering if they have leased the old Tesla location on robson as that has been leased recently but that really would be an issue given they have multiple models in development and that space really can only fit one car.

I would expect Rivian locations will be popping up soon as they have offices being established here as well.
I have not seen a Polestar on the road at all, they don't seem that popular

Vancouver is one of the top-performing cities in NA for electric car sales, so not surprising they would open here.

I have a few wings and horns shirts, they are simple design but the fabric and craftsmanship are top notch.

I've seen a few on the roads. Less than almost any other EV, including the expensive Taycan.

They look interesting. I have no idea why Volvo didn't launch under their own respected brand name.

Think he probably meant Reigning Champ, which are mostly luxury sweats. I do have one pair of their sweatpants and they certainly feel much heavier and denser than a random pair of no names I had from the Bay, great for this pandemic, but normally for the $150 price premium...

Volvo's reputation is not bad but still has a strong stigma attached to them for being boring family vehicles. Their actual products are fantastic and go toe-to-toe against entry level offerings from the Germans and luxury Japanese automakers. Launching a premium brand has been a working strategy for the Asian manufacturers as long as you can actually deliver a great product (now including Genesis) so I can see why they did this with Polestar.

Pretty much all higher end items are like that though, with a price premium that far outstrips the quality upgrade. The target audience is people for whom that cost has little to no impact. The sad part is when people who can’t afford it waste their money on such things.

Prada has some nylon shorts for over $1000. $120 for shorts isn't really that bad.

The stock is very low, they have really spaced out what they have to fill out the shelves, compared to other H&M Home stores I have been to it's very sparse. I did overhear a staff member tell a shopper that they would be getting a delivery of stock tomorrow, so hopefully, that fills it in more. That said it does have a good variety of items and many people were loading up.

Comparatively, yes, and for $1200 the cost-to-quality ratio is even lower.

Tim Horton's on Granville and Nelson will be closing. A For Lease sign in the window. Another casualty of the declining street.

Is it declining or has it just not gotten that much better even with the new offices on Howe/WeWork at the old Tom Lee. I mean Aldo's came and went but there's literally nothing south of Smithe that would draw people (minus night clubs)

Loblaw expands PC Optimum at Esso stations, points redeemable on gas, car washes
by The Canadian PressPOSTED JUN 17, 2021 6:24 AM EDT

TORONTO — Canada’s biggest food and drugstore retailer is expanding its loyalty program at Esso gas stations, allowing PC Optimum members to both earn and redeem points when they fuel up.

Loblaw Companies Ltd. says it first teamed up with Imperial Oil in 2018 to allow its loyalty rewards members to earn points when buying gas at Esso stations.

The company says starting early next year PC Optimum cardholders will also be able to redeem points for rewards including fuel and car washes.

Amy Newman, retail sales and marketing director for Imperial, says the program has been successful and that the expanded partnership will take the customer experience “to the next level.”

Imperial says it will be retiring its Esso Extra program and that its members will be able to convert existing points to PC Optimum.

Uwe Stueckmann, Loblaw’s chief consumer officer, says the company is excited to give Esso Extra members the chance to join the PC Optimum program, which has 18 million members.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 17, 2021.

I can't imagine working at a location like that and having to keep the washrooms clean etc.
