WS adding KOA & LIH this winter, along with an increase in service to HNL/OGG. Pretty strong response to AC adding YYC-HNL.

OGG - 6x weekly 789 / 1x weekly 7M8
KOA - 1x weekly 7M8

LAX 2-3x weekly (From July 5)

PHX 2x weekly
PSP 2x weekly
SFO 2x weekly (From July 23)

Also looks DUB has been axed for the season as well. CDG still scheduled from August 5.

Mostly the same as what they have from June 25-July 4.

Looks like I missed YYT & YLL resuming in late July. There is also some minor increases to some domestic destinations in late July, like YHZ going up to 9x weekly.

Do we want to chase out the only foreign carrier remaining at YYC, the only one who flew during the entire pandemic?

This sucks. I don't want YYC to be a fortress hub for WestJet. I am primarily a points and miles guy and their loyalty program sucks.

It's not competition, it's collusion lol. Oh sorry I meant "an alliance that will provide our passengers more choices". AC/LH now WS/KL. Rinse and repeat.

But most people thought that WS would go in this direction anyways. It is a natural choice.

KLM will likely stay, they seem very committed. The WS service is only scheduled from August 5-November 1 while KLM is scheduled year-round.

Also in the past YYC-AMS had both KL & TS in the summer months too.

I know WS is trying to be cautious (which can be a good thing), but do you think they will ever expand a bit more aggressively or meaningful in the future? This is a great announcement but it's only 2-3 times a week for a couple of months to a pre-existing destination.

KL isn’t the only foreign carrier at YYC. You still have AC....

And YYC is the definition of a WS fortress hub, just so we’re clear. Don’t worry though, KL isn’t going anywhere. A codeshare is a far cry from a joint venture, where the two airlines can collude on schedule and price. Thats not the case here. At least not yet.

One thing to add is the Westjet flight leaves at 20:55. The KLM flight leaves quite early in the afternoon for a European flight. Depending on your connection in AMS or what you are doing before your flight in YYC that could be useful for different needs.

And like it was mentioned before, TS used to fly the route in the summer. So hopefully there's room for everyone here.

Maybe a few years down the road. I'm honestly surprised to even see an Europe add this year (particularly since they still haven't launched the previously announced FCO). I'm assuming they got ad-hoc slots and figured it was worth utilizing them for half the summer.

Additionally the release mentions LGW, but doesn't say anything about CDG (which is still scheduled from August 5 as well). So I wonder if they'll fly to AMS over CDG this year?

Nice try - AC ain't foreign

We've lost BA and HU permanently, but LH looks to be making a seasonal comeback in S22. I'd love to see DEL, TYO in Asia and the return of BA to LHR and AF to CDG for Europe. Healthy foreign carrier service is good for us, and if WS is too much of a pain for AC they'll just de-hub us completely and force us to YVR for everything.
