Isn't that the first steps of construction?

No they don't, someone changed it and I don't care enough to change it back at this point. But the standard definition still applies, it's under construction when parts of the permeant project are being constructed.

Thank you for caring enough to give me that detailed explanation! So much for consistency. So it’s still proposed but the thread title is just in accurate. Lol

I remember back when the PMC/Evergreen Extension was under construction, the official website had cameras installed on a particular location. I used to watch the construction of these locations a lot. They were at the Tunnel Boring Machine, Moody Centre, Inlet Centre, Lincoln Station. If only the same method was done for this extension like they did in the previous, we wouldn't have to drive there in heavy traffic just to see the progress.

I'm pretty sure part of the Granville station is under construction, even if the boring machine isn't headed for it any time in the immediate future.

My Photos - May 18th & May 22nd - Broadway Cambie Demo

May 18th, 2021

May 22nd, 2021

Given how busy Vancouver’s Broadway-City Hall station is, we had assumed there would be tons of photos showing the nearby demolition work. Fortunately, we were able to capture some shots of the mid-block building on May 18th.

By May 22nd, all that remained was some rubble, the western building, & these 24 steel beams which will form a temporary bridge at this intersection. That, along with the bored tunnels, will ensure this Canada Line station’s expansion won’t turn into another cut & cover mess

The whole BC Construction Camera system has gone defunct.

Hmm, this project seems to be at around the same stage now as the GMB was, time to pull the plug and go back to the drawing board?

JK, great to see this moving along.

The block in front of No Frills is also a construction zone as the Broadway line is building a line crossover there. (switches trains from one line to the other, if needed).

The holes may not be for hoarding but rather for piles that keep the No frills from c=falling into the big hole that is coming for the street in front of it.

Do you have a source on the location of the crossover? This 2018 document first says east and then says the location is west for the location.

Quote:
This document from 2018 mentions a crossover but says east and west. A rail track crossover will be provided east of the new Cambie Station.

The tunnel(s) will continue westward past Cambie to Oak Station. A rail track crossover will be provided west of the new Cambie Station.

We can assume it will be East of the station. There is ‘Utilities Investigation’ between Cambie and Alberta, the same work at Mount Pleasant Station is only along one block. It also is the obvious choice as to the West would mean excavating around and under the Canada Line tunnel. Construction renders also show nothing to the West.

The crossover according to the interior layout will probably look like this (track in yellow)

this is from April 2021, Broadway Subway Info Session, see page 17. the crossover area is all on the east.

at one point, they were proposing 1/2 a crossover on the east, the other 1/2 on the west. as seen in this report from 2019, page 121

Still standing.

Also in a BUS STOP UPDATE to the issue mcminsen mentioned, they have put a traffic cone and tape to warn people from wasting their time at the previous bus stop location.

RIP weird wood furniture store.

Main/Broadway continues to be a mess with the sewer work. Hopefully it's over soon.

Digging at Emily Carr site. Not under construction though, lol!

And it looks like the warehouse to the west of the former-MEC head-office building (901 Great Northern Way) has gotten its haircut at the back to make room for the subway to run between the office and the railway tracks.

This Google Maps Photo is in the parkade of the office building at 887 Great Northern Way. This is to the west of the modified warehouse and shows the scene. The warehouse used to go north of the wooden gazebo, but now the warehouse looks to have been cut back to the south of the gazebo.
