Personally that's my favourite angle, although it would be better if either 1000 RG or 1250 BRL was 50m higher

The street should be lined with buildings 6-12 stories and having some of them be contemporary wouldn't hurt anything but I don't think actual tall buildings suits Spadina at all. The scale of the section around the intersections with Richmond and Adelaide is ideal. Particularly the tower building.

Great shot.

But I can't help to think how better Ottawa would have looked if the downtown office section had kept a cap on heights at like 8-10 floors while allowing for the riverside parliament / government / landmark buildings to stand out.

Ottawa would still have gotten the 200m + height that it's getting today way out in the boonies.

^ Yes that is a fantastic Ottawa shot! Kudos..The few talls being built just outside of the core will certainly help.

Stubby building heights are sort of the worst of both worlds. No incentive for grand structures that command the eye, yet they are still high enough to make the streets into dark trenches. I can't think of a single Ottawa skyscraper, other than those wonderful neo-gothic, classical government buildings and the Chateau Laurier (and OK, some of the museums, but these are not skyscrapers) that is noteworthy.

Glass blue boxes dominate Ottawa more than any other city that I can think of.
