In fairness, the proposal wouldn't look that out of place in some of the outlying parts of Hong Kong... with a colour change, it could fit right into a complex like this

If they remake the Jungle Book film, this is 100% where King Louie will reside.

Something like this proposal in Hamilton I could live with, maybe split into two buildings, one on an angle looks interesting.

^ Something like that filling in the block of Smith from the St. Regis site right down to Graham would be awesome.

The St Regis proposal - It is just floors 1 through 42 that are the issue. Other than that it is well designed.

Forgive me for my rudimentary photoshop skills, but even something like this would be much better in my eyes. Split the two tower sections down the middle, make one a bit taller and the other a bit shorter. And last but not least get rid of that god awful white fedora at the very top.

Can we all agree that no one posts this in the "Canadian City Proposals" thread? The other cities already shit on us enough...

I didn't because who wants to promote this? Maybe once a final, revised rendering is available.

I recall my late grandfather who was raised here all his life, say that Winnipeggers were the reason the city hardly grew after WW and how Pessimism about Winnipeg from its citizens was what mostly kept it from attaining much growth or new developments.

This is a serious project and even a smaller project takes time, thought, design, money etc..
Attempting to reach a near 50 floor tower in Winnipeg or anywhere is no easy 1,2,3 so let's not be so hasty & nasty.

If this reaches fruition, then the next hurdles for something grand will seem reachable & be an easier grasp.
Actually, don’t you think it’s got a lot better on here in terms of the Winnipeg-trashing? Going back a few years, there was a whole cadre of individuals - strangely, most of them from Alberta, notably Calgary- whose daily mission was to post noxious comments about anything positive that was going on. Knock on wood.

Afffinity Architecture designs garbage, it’s not going to get any better.
