I remember back in my first year at UBC, the displays and presentations for the soon to begin Skytrain to UBC, ready by the time I graduate.

...

At least it's actually almost on the way now!

I remember "Farewell to Brill".

In fact, I remember paying 7 cents to ride the #25 trolley when I was in elementary school. "Ding! Buzz! Buzz!".

Skytrain is that newfangled thing with all those spanking new ALRT cars...

We were up in the Kootenays a few years back, and while we were there we visited the ghost town of Sandon. There's a family there that rehabilitates old transit vehicles for museums and other displays, and it was quite a pleasant surprise to drive in and see some of the old Brill trolleys there.

I remember the old Grouse Mountain chairlift, that went up to the bottom of the Cut. It was out of service, having been replaced by the first gondola, but the chairs and cables were still in place; we would walk up there and play on them.

I'll trump you. I road the old cut chair going skiing a few times in the mid 60's

Looks like all we have is the west coast express loco refurb program and that's it

Honestly I expected a little bit more, but that's okay.

It has the feel of a federal government that feels the need to announce every little funding project because they're preparing for an election.

Decided to make a video outlining some of the improvements which I think could be made to the Translink network - the sort of nice to haves and low hanging fruit that I feel like Translink has done pretty well with in recent years as well as some more ambitious ideas!

Not keen on that design -
I'll bet the heritage people will be all over that addition.

Love it! This project just gets better and better, and adds some flare and color needed in Vancouver. It is also a design that seems really at home in the PNW.

And risk being called racist?

It's a great design idea. We need more of this.

Never accuse a NIMBY of having common sense:

Kitsilano residents hope First Nation will consult them on massive development plan
BY MARTIN MACMAHON AND HANA MAE NASSAR

Posted Apr 10, 2019 11:20 am PDT Last Updated Apr 10, 2019 at 11:28 am PDT

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Imagine three thousand apartment units built right by your neighbourhood.

Groups in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood are bracing for that reality as the Squamish Nation plans a massive development...

Larry Benge with the West Kitsilano Residents Association won’t go so far as to say the First Nation is obliged to consult with people who live in the surrounding area, but he’s hopeful it will offer people in the area a chance to have their say about this project, which could introduce thousands of people to neighbourhoods just south of the Burrard Street Bridge.

“We, on the other hand, are people who live here already in the surrounding neighbourhoods — not that the Squamish don’t live here already, they’ve been here for thousands of years. Hopefully there’ll be some back-and-forth in discussions of it and we’ll keep an eye on it and see what develops.”
As one might expect, that last quote is making the rounds on social media.
