That's an impressive Ottawa pic!!.. Love the density. I really hope the grounds of Parliament Hill turn out a lot better than they usually are. Something more grand.. landscaping wise.

I posted this on the weather thread, but I will post this here as well, for greater exposure.

A portion of downtown Moncton from a fourth floor office window in Moncton Place, overlooking city hall plaza. Taken today.

In the shots above, along the sea wall, are those train tracks? It's not a road or walking trail, correct?

No, that is the bike path, which is separate from the walking trail.

Actually looking at the curves, probably wouldn't make sense for rail lol.

I wonder if someone has gone so fast on their bike they lost it, flipped over the rail and ended up in the drink.

When I fist saw the pic I said I hope that's not a road! Would be cool but kind of dangerous. It made me think of Canal Road in the Bradford, ON area. I believe a few years ago they re-did the most dangerous corner:

Quote:
Drivers must remain cautious as the journey has been known to claim the lives of careless drivers. The short road has had at least 22 fatal incidents the last years. From 2000 to 2005, there were 51 accidents that resulted in 14 cars ending up in the water, or landing on the frozen surface. This high-volume death trap is narrow, especially dangerous in the winter (black ice) and has pot holes and a big drop into the water. At least 20 people have died since 1954 when their cars went into the drainage canal.

I wonder if there's anywhere on the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail where it runs right up along the water like that.

The cycling and pedestrian traffic can get super intense in the summer, and over the years I have seen numerous crashes and collisions, although I have never seen anyone go over the edge. During busy periods, you definitely need to stay sharp.

If you want to virtually experience the Stanley Park seawall, here are two 4K raw footage videos of its entire length. The major caveats are that the pedestrian-shot video starts out in the morning, and the bicycle-shot video is shot on the first unofficial day of Fall and starts out in the morning too, so neither video comes close to capturing the seawall's peak pedestrian/cycling intensity. Despite that, both videos still give the viewer a decent glimpse of how unique and special the Stanley Park seawall is in general, and both videos end in English Bay, Vancouver's downtown urban beach district:

I wish that Vancouver would get snow more regularly, for it truly becomes something of a fairytale like place when it does.
