I sure hope it is an apartment or mixed-use building in Cathedral or Transition. Those areas are desperate for new investment.

Catholic School Board has been publicly mulling the sale of both their HQ and Holy Rosary School (land south of the actual Cathedral). If that ever happens, that's a big chunk of land right in the heart of Cathedral that could have interesting uses. I would hope that a large chunk remains a park (since the playground is effectively that, at this point).

Is this the super secret sporting facility that the mayor has been working on? If so, I think it's a mix of public and private funds.

Ahh, so is this the aquatic facility she had been talking about?

I would say 'meh' to it too, without even seeing it or hearing the details.

Sarcan on Fleury St (just north of Dewdney) is closing at the end of the week and moving to 5000 Parliament in HL which puts it sort of between WBM and the Co-op.

I wonder what will take its place on Pasqua St. That lot is ridiculously long, but also narrow (and narrows to a point).

I know that indoor mini golf and go carts used to be where the boat dealership is now just north of Dutch, but maybe that would work well in the former Dutch Growers location? A new smaller version of Maxwell’s Amusements Water slides?

Looks like the city is putting up a pedestrian crossing (with activated lights?) at the corner of Albert St. South and the South Service Road (just north of Gordon Rd). That is where the young woman was struck and killed this past year while crossing.

This is a good move—I've worked near there, and it's a very busy street to cross uncontrolled.

I will never understand why we have had this huge surge in politicians wanting a new baseball stadium this past year. Flegel made it his hill to die on. And now Masters is on board.

The Regina Red Sox averaged 589 attendees in their 2019 season. Tickets are $11. The team brought in less than $200,000 in ticket revenue their entire 2019 season. Have they ever even sold out a non-playoff game?

While I disagreed with the new Mosaic stadium, there's not denying the team is super popular in Regina.

We need a new hockey rink/arena. With concerts, it would be actually used regularly. The new baseball stadium would sit empty from August 15 until May 15.

On this topic, I went up the Rose Street parkade yesterday overlooking the proposed site for the new hockey arena. Putting the arena on 1800 block Rose would have such a positive affect on downtown and would fill our most obvious gap in development. It would connect super well with the Delta and the Casino, and I’d expect would go a long way of convincing a development (like Alt) to put up a hotel on Broad.

Plus, eliminating a significant dead zone on the East side of downtown would go a long way to beginning revitalization of the Heritage neighbourhood.
