I believe they just used this as a simple render, I don't think there are any plans to replace the bridge currently there.

Planning committee approved a 25-storey mixed-use building at 300 Mìwàte Private - part of Zibi development at Chaudiere Falls.

45 of the 204 units would be co-living suites, where the idea is people rent private bedrooms with access to shared living room and kitchen. #ottcity

I know the following work is underway:

Quote:
As part of a multi-year rehabilitation program, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) will be improving cycling for the last portion of the “complete street” vision for the Chaudière Crossing.

The scope of work involves the following:

-Union Bridge rehabilitation and a proposed cycle track;
-Hull Causeway widening and proposed cycle track.
EDIT: Layout of the crossing for reference:

I'm still really disappointed that the NCC had to kick out the vertical reality climbing gym from these lands to allow for the redevelopment. It would have much such a great community building centre to the area - I'm sure many climbers would have loves to stay around and frequent the restaurants, and it would have attracted younger generations to move to the area.

Last I heard they kicked them out for Victoria Island remediation, not redevelopment. So they might be able to move back in 2025.
The fact that it takes them 7 years to remediate the island is mind-boggling though.

I hope the vertical gym does come back. It would fit in well with Zibi.

Took them 150 years of industrial use to pollute it. 7 years isn't bad.

Surely Chaudiere Island and the Zibi lands on the Quebec side of the river were at least as polluted as Victoria Island, if not more so. I'm guessing, but I think it took Zibi less than a year to decontaminate the land on which they have built so far.

Not often you get Les Champs-Élysées, the Los Angeles River, and Zibi in one podcast, but here you go.

Monocle 24 - The Urbanist - Episode 489: Grands projets

If you want just the Zibi segment it's https://monocle.com/radio/shows/the-urbanist/489/zibi/

"We explore a province-straddling project on Canada’s Québec-Ontario border."

Jeff Weinstein giving a timeline of 10 to 15 years to completion. That's quite ambitious, but if someone can do it, it's the Zibi team.

They have been dealing with some pretty crazy stuff on Victoria Island, including nearly 1,000 buried pressurized acetylene canisters.

I don't see this wrapping up in 10-15 years. I don't know how many buildings in total they are planning but we have, what, 4-5 that have been completed or topped out in the last 6 years or so? And I only know of the one rental residential tower + commercial building on the near horizon at this point.

I've been taking in as much as I can about this Wharf DC project in Washington DC. I love the vision these developers and public officials have for their waterfront. I hope Zibi and Lebreton are this successful, but I'm not 100% optimistic.

Haven't had the chance to watch the video yet, but based on quick Google image searches, I think Zibi will turn out better. Time will tell.

Thanks for posting! Hard to tell how that 3D effect of those vertical spandrels will turn out. Looking forward to seeing more of the cladding to get a better idea.

Saw them dismantling the crane today. So no more cranes standing at Zibi left.

Wonder what's next? 25-floor Block 206?

I assume so. It was just approved by the City. The low-rise office building in front with the integrated heritage concrete facade, block 207, will probably go up as well.

Someone on Discord mentioned the building at the north-west corner of Laval and Laurier is also set to go up soon, but did not provide any sources.
