^ I'm actually a little surprised that more people haven't tried exploiting that loophole. In some ways a projected image is even more appealing than the traditional billboard/jumbotron which is generally outlawed now... no installation costs beyond buying a projector. You rent it out and just flash ads. I guess it doesn't work for everyone with a blank wall since the projector has to be out of reach, but it does seem like a reasonably appealing way to get ad spend.

I thought I saw an article this week about their light finally being — canned by the City. Totally could have been me dreaming though.

If someone were to start a petition for that projector to be shot into outer space, you've got my signature.

I don't doubt there are others in the city who feel the same way. Does anyone here know if anyone has tied to look into changing the by-laws?
Could also try nationalizing CanadInns & forcing them to outfit their buildings and hotels with giant LED propaganda screens

It’s crazy how the public service has declined Ceridian’s plan to install a sign in True North Square, But the hideous projection Canad can get away with.

^ Proving once again that it is easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

Has anybody called 311 to complain about the spotlight sign?

For some reason Planning Property and Development dept will not send out a bylaw special constable unless there are complaints in their dispatch system.

If there are a few complaints from the members here it may motivate them a little more than just 1 complaint.

City website says for the PPD department they can be reached at 204-986-5140 option 4 and the enforcement person for downtown is Cheryl McGinnis.

They didnt like the height of the Ceridian sign because it was above the 25' allowable limit from the ground.

Also the skip sign is at 35+ feet. I remember hearing skip is putting up a 40' tall sign. It's not that. Just a sign which is 40' above the ground.

The appeal was subsequently approved in favour of the applicant, the sign will be located at 49'.

So insane this was rejected, the plan looks so much nicer having it framed in the corner of the glass and not on the trim parts.

Also the Skip signs will be going on the horizontal lines above and below the jumbotron.

Only the second 37th floor in Winnipeg. I had an elderly relative who lived on the 37th floor of 55 Nassau in the 1970s. I think that's still the highest apartment I've ever been in.

Concept logo for top of building 300 Main St. restaurant, if it ever opens one day.

I'm on a windows 10 system as I don't have Linux installed because of hardware issues this year.

I was looking for a fancier script font for the name of the restaurant and I envisaged it to be in gold metalic lettering.

Bockstael is doing the concrete formwork, that’s their only scope here. Marwest does the rest of the carpentry and GC work.
