Any future infill station in either of those locations would be expensive to build and disrupt the main system. IMO it will not happen for at least 50 years. The only catalyst that I could see changing that would be if the Pine View Golf Course was permitted to redevelop, but that is EXTREMELY unlikely.

The fact that Jasmine Park didn't get a station but Orleans Boulevard did is a classic case of unconscious, systemic classism and even racism within our planning and transportation planning system (not necessarily individuals, but the who attends consultations, what community groups Councillors and planners are hesitant to upset, who is involved in the decision making process, etc.). Simple as that.
Length-wise, there is room for a station. Width-wise... it would probably have to be side platforms.

In BC they don't have wards, but instead vote for multiple councillors from a (often very long) list. It then becomes all about name recognition. With an amalgamated city the size of Ottawa there would likely be hundreds of names on the ballot, and the incumbents would be almost guaranteed to be re-elected and only celebrities having any hope of getting their toe in the door.

But...why would we build stations spaced apart about the width of a traffic diamond...when the subsequent stations are several km's apart?

I thought the original plan was to align the station with the bottom end of Jasmin Crescent (South-East corner of Sutton Pl). Which would require these people to walk a bit less than hiking to Gloucester now.

Costco people can go to hell. Ain't nobody carrying a 48 pack of bottled water and a year's supply of toilet paper down a big long ramp to a train station.

Edit: I guess when you take the easy and cheap route, you have to just put up with the stations being in the median, a significant hike away. I've kind of always agreed with Unuhiaunau that the route should have been down Montreal Road until the 174, and then out to Orleans, and the Transitway continues to operate from South Keys to Hurdman to Downtown.

It isn't incredibly hard to change geometry to fit an island platform in there. The problem is of course wanting to spend $20-50 million bucks plus maybe a an extra set of LRVs plus the extra time the every train would take, versus the number of people served.

Orleans Boulevard station is going to have way less demand than a Jasmine station would.

Not building a station for Jasmine is entirely classism-racism and not wanting to have the "good people" from Orleans to have to see the Jasmine crowd on their morning commutes.

I find the Blair eastbound on-ramp/merge lane incredibly short (first 10 seconds of the video). Sightlines are not great, either. If/when we ever get back to pre-pandemic traffic levels, this will be a problematic area. It already feels dangerous as-is.

Does anyone know if this alignment is final or temporary?

A few points along the route could potentially be dangerous. There's a sharp realignment at 49 seconds that could be problematic.

That's not the final alignment. It should be reestablished after the fly-over is complete.

I took a few shots of the east end progress.

Here's the Gloucester High School flyover.

Convent Glen station area.

A few observations. The site of the future Jasmin station is not well situated. By having it behind the BMX track, it's much further from the high density area of Jasmin itself. Unless the retail and parking around the Costco property are re-developed, potential ridership will be quite low (other than the Blair towers that would only attract rush-hour riders). This is something we already knew, but becomes clearer on-site.

I wish they would have kept the line north of the highway until Jasmine Park.

As for Convent Glen, Orleans Boulevard seems much more desolate when walking up and down the overpass. Doing so in winter with a walker or wheelchair would be very difficult and unpleasant. The low-density within 500 meters will limit its ridership greatly. The only way ridership could be encouraged would be for the City to strategically route buses through the station, but Jeanne d'Arc is far better suited for this.

Good Day.

Agreed !! So they have an RESS - Railway Excursion Safety Sculpture !! (as opposed to an airport RESA - Runway Excursion Safety Area) .

Paranoid me had already been thinking that we need something far more substantial than those silly buffer bumpers at the elevated terminal stations at Hazeldean , Limebank, and especially !! Airport !!

Oh The Joy !!!

Progress at Place d'Orléans station. They are currently widening the trench, presumably to shift the 174 out and make room for the O-Train platform and tracks.

More images on O-Train Fans, including the existing bus facilities on both sides of the 174.

The new draft official plan that includes a map with future LRT [infill] stations and confirms the existence of Jasmine station as a future plan (which we basically already knew).

It doesn't really tell us any more about where the station would actually go, though..

Do you have a link to the draft plan?

I still find the station density in Orleans south of Innes extremely high.

Tenth Line to Millennium is about 3 km, and five stations are proposed. That's a station every 600 m.

Isn't that similar to inner city Paris métro station density?
