The Public plaza was recently gifted the name šxʷƛ̓exən Xwtl’a7shn from the Musquem, Squamishand Tsleil-Waututh first nations, VCT is also thrilled to bring the language to the land through this project
I don't know but renaming a plaza from Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza and not renaming the actual theatre speaks volumes about how BS these name changes are.

Acknowledging the colonial legacy of naming in Vancouver the plaza naming process sought to return decision-making to the original inhabitants of this land and bring more visibility to the local Indigenous languages and cultures.
A development application has been submitted by Skyllen Pacific Real Estate to construct a 175-ft-tall, 18-storey residential tower at 1116 Pendrell Street in downtown Vancouver’s West End.
The proposal, near Thurlow Street and west of St. Paul’s Hospital, replaces a 1937-built, two-storey building with 16 apartment units. The developer acquired the property in February 2018.
The condominium unit mix is 69 studio units, 37 two-bedroom units, and three three-bedroom units, while the rental unit mix is four studios, six one-bedroom units, and six two-bedroom units.

Thank you . I'm being bad and I'm looking at stuff during intermittent 5 minute breaks at work so I didn't get a chance to look at those resources until now. I promise I'm not intentionally being lazy on here .

The CashMoney at Davie/Burrard shut down. Anyone hear of anything heading for rezoning soon?

The property is zoned DD - Area M, which permits for a density of 3.00 FSR. The maximum density for all uses on a corner site with a minimum frontage of 175 feet and a minimum site area of 21,000 square feet shall be floor space ratio 5.00.
Height area 6, which provides for the basic 300 feet except that, on a corner site that has a frontage less than 175 feet or an interior site that has a frontage less than 200 feet, the height must not exceed 70 feet (subject to viewcones).
1640-1650 Alberni Street
Recently I was asked whether my frequent attendance at the Urban Design Panel has given me any insight into how they think. While Hannah and I have learned a lot since our first open house, the opinions of the panel often fluctuate with the rotation of new volunteers. A year ago, sustainability was front of mind, and the advice to incorporate isokorb was routine. Now discussions of green roofs, prominent entryways, and a dislike of tall buildings often dominate many sessions.
This meeting proved no different, as two members continued to struggle over why the West End Community Plan allows for this level of density. Fortunately for the applicant, the rest of the panel had no such qualms, as the majority strongly supported this project’s height, density, and overall look. These volunteers found the rigour and order of the shifting floor-plates quiet elegant, and particularly appreciated that it provided each home with a large continuous balcony.
I really think that area of Alberni could do with more commercial, despite all these towers going in I think its still going to feel quite suburban. Something to bring a bit more street level vibrancy would be good.
That illustration is a bit disingenuous, as there are three towers proposed on the 'vacant' land shown on West Georgia in the render - the two Pelli Clark, Pelli towers to the east, and Anthem's KPF tower beside them.
