Get real. This is for the liquor store that vacated a few months ago. As an office tenant it's a bit of an inconvenience having to travel further to get beverages for beer/wine Fridays.

Fair comment, my assertion withdrawn.

If anyone didn't already know, Coffee Bureau orders in St-Viateur bagels from Montreal every week. Picked up some sesame ones today.

As an aside, do we not have a local bagel shop that can make something similar?

They don't do Montreal style bagels (I don't think so at least) but Bagel Bar is a local place. Don't have their own shop (yet at least), but you buy get their bagels at various locations in Edmonton.

Del Posto tonight for DTDW fall edition.

Value for $ is incredible, service good/not polished.

You won't be disappointed.

That looks great! Very few things like Italian comfort food.

Just a head's up about Coffee Bureau, while we are all very thankful that they ship in Montreal bagels, they are currently on accountability notice after it was alleged that they boasted to customers a few months ago that they kick out or hurry out people who 'appear homeless' to preserve a certain atmosphere in the shop. My understanding is the downtown community discussed this matter. There is no need to boycott them. They are not cancelled. But if you do visit them, be sure to keep an eye out for how they treat their most vulnerable customers -especially at this fragile time in our city when many people are unemployed and desperate.

Does anyone know if Curry Vibes on Jasper/108st is still open?

Seems dark each time I am by and would be a shame as they were fantastic.

not to take anything away from the coffee bureau, i would however make two comments.

firstly, they operate out of a very small space with very limited seating. i can understand their wanting all of their customers to respect that.

secondly, if you want to provide some support to a local business that goes out of their way to support the most vulnerable among us, you can visit the nook on 97th street. the coffee is just as good, the baked goods are their own and you can buy a “suspended coffee” (a pay it forward for those most vulnerable) while buying your own.

I was definitely not disappointed at all!

This location has been a black hole of many failed eateries for decades so I hope Del Posto finally puts a stop to that.

I didn't know about Nook's pay-it-forward coffee model. Thanks for pointing it out. I will try that next time.

Al Centro has closed permanently unfortunately. I really loved that use of space, great offerings.

I really enjoyed that spot and they worked incredibly hard to develop a loyal following.

you purchase a "suspended coffee" and put a white button in a jar. anyone that wants a coffee and doesn't have the means to pay is able to just use a white button. it's as simple and non-judgmental as it gets.

the only downside at the moment is that their hours are still a bit restricted and don't include monday or tuesday (with the upside being that's good for my covid diet waistline).

Quite unfortunate, but not surprising given WFH. Hopefully something can reopen there once everything 'normalizes'.

I heard! Tried Dorinku Osaka (had an excellent sashimi lunch) on Saturday for the first time and now I will be trying out Misoya Ramen this Saturday.

^Ramen Misoya is one of my go to's...personally love the Miso Curry. Their DDW special is a LOT of food.

Cafe Lavi (104 st/100 Ave) is re-opening November 14.
