It’d be kind of interesting if this area developed heavily with taller towers to become Ottawa’s dominant skyline. There’s already decent vantage points from Dows Lake, too! It could have something of a Midtown effect (vis-a-vis Downtown Manhattan) with the fledgling skyline becoming the main one or at least on par with the original one. That, or perhaps something like Century City in LA or La Defense in Paris?

The block between Icon and Carling (now Dow's Lake) station has a three tower proposal of 55, 45 and 18 floors, though that likely won't be built for a decade or two. A 30 storey tower is under construction one block north-west. Several other buildings have been proposed or approved between Icon and the Queensway, Preston and Booth.
The huge grassy area in the foreground will accommodate the new 900 bed Civic Super-Hospital.
Proximity to Carleton (one station south) has been a big factor, with the two yellow towers housing private student residences.
This area has been the poster-child for TOD in Ottawa. Development mirrors what we see along the Yonge Line in Toronto (but on a smaller scale, of course).
