It’s taking a lot longer than the last one to get going again. It should also be noted that over the last several months, E.S.Fox the steel contractor has been very busy welding huge pieces of reinforcing steel onto at least 2/3 of the supporting columns on each floor.

I'm not an engineer, but I'm aware that some hi-rise skyscrapers have a damping coil/weight/pendulum attached to the building to prevent winds from swaying the building. Another theory would be what happened to the Millennium Tower in San Francisco which is sinking and tilting. Remediation is gonna cost upwards of $300 M.

So anyone know what the hell is going on with 200 Portage? At this point the city should force them to do something, technically the facade is not in its approved state and its been like a year since they’ve done anything.

No it's not, it's owned by Carmen Aleshka and her husband. They were going to open a children's mental health institution there but then changed their mind. Started work on the outside, removed all the trim and have done nothing since.

Did anyone ever find out why they dropped the balconies on the north side? Are those going to be "affordable" units or do they wrap around to balcony-having sides?

Maybe planning a 3rd tower too close to have them?! lol

They also replaced all the windows with floor to ceiling windows. The big clue that they weren't going to anything more than that was when the new Scotiabank signage was installed instead of the originally planned metal work, which should have happened first.

I would think the plan is to still finish it. They have left all the finish strips off the mullions.
