Anyone else see a problem with the LRT Fallowfield intersection? The image I've added below is modified from page 3 of this file:
https://documents.ottawa.ca/sites/documents/files/barrhaven_lrt_boards18to33_en.pdf
Let's say you sometimes walk westbound over the transitway and via line at Fallowfield road to the shopping plaza just west of the tracks. Easy enough - there's currently a level crossing.
The proposed change could add over 1.2KM!!! to that journey - depending on how far south and east you start on that side of the tracks. The next closest crossing is at Longfields station, which is much farther south.
The orange line I've added is my idea for a route with a set of ramps/walkways so they could cut most of the extra distance out of this setup. It wouldn't have to complicated - they added a ramp at the Preston street bridge over the LRT so why not do the same thing here?
Or maybe - why not just raise the Via line up a bit as well - like an Longfields - and build a pedestrian underpass, as the LRT line looks to be planned as elevated in that section as well?
