I would be OK with ALL of this. Take 5 deserves to be a local chain of donut houses the same way that Remedy has cornered the local coffeehouse scene...

As soon as I found out that ALL Timmy's donuts are made in ONE facility in Brantford and then flown around the nation to be reheated fresh broke my heart and makes total sense about why they already taste stale, even when you get them "freshly" baked... No joke... https://rabble.ca/news/fresh-fried-frozen

Was excited when Mercato opened in St. Albert, but I think I'd take a Tim Horton's donut over the, even more stale, ones they've been serving. Would love suggestions as to who has the best donuts in St. Albert.

Only go to Mercado after a bike ride for a coffee and a pastry. Never did the donuts.

We tried Browns Socialhouse yesterday. Never been there before. We were impressed by the atmosphere. We both tried the Blackened Chicken with salad and veggies. Delicious.

Rosewood Foods for a burger today: simple/delicious/different

*On a side note, hearing that the Guinness stock in Alberta is out what's left in folks storage.

Sunterra Commerce to pick up lunch. Quiet but steady business, all the options except for the salad bar.

Long time no post.

Was talking to a friend who lives in the city and they informed me that the old Sherlock pub location in WEM is now a new place called Five and Dive and opens this week (Thursday). A rock themed pub/bar.

Indeed.

Curious to see how things look with expanded patios as we get into colder weather.

Ended up at Butternut Tree Saturday night for the first real date night since March. Was a very good evening. Food and Wine came to 180 for Apps Main and wine. What I do like is how knowledgeable the wait staff was. It has been a while since we have been to a place that had that level of professionalism.

Sunday after a bike ride we ended up at Corner 1 Cafe in the West Block . Pleasantly surprised at how nice the space is the the food was very good.

Remedy is still my go to place but since this is on my drive some days will definitely go back.

Bistro 99 in the podium of the Omega Condo (105st/99ave) is now open. They completely gutted and renovated the old Starbucks space and have created a rather cute/cosy cafe. They are hoping to run a bit of a wine bar in the evenings.

Not in Edmonton, but within the region-ish: went to the Bruce Hotel Friday night for steak dinner with friends. There were COVID precautions in place but there was still the salad and sides buffets available (one table could be up at a time).

A bit far to drive more than once a month, but I'd definitely go back once they start having their lobster nights (the owners are from Nova Scotia).

We did that a few years ago and yes, worth the trip for an adventure.
