Yeah it's sad news for sure. They've been there a long time right? One of the original tenants of that revamped building which was one of Beljan's earlier projects (Limelight).

That's correct.

With Kennedy leaving and COVID, it was likely difficult to remain viable.

I walked by today and Prairie Noodle is still open. I did see a sign that they're take out only though.

Prairie Noodle is closing next month once the lease expires. COVID-19 is to blame.

Sugarbowl for lunch.

Packed patio, chicken and waffles, delicious saison from a champagne cask.

Man I love that block.

Had a coffee and donut at Take 5 in the Beverly neighborhood - both were so delicious that I can swear off Timmy Hos! The staff were awesome. The place was packed, so I had to wait a couple of minutes until one family left.

If Coldsrx is going to take over Take 5, he'll have a lot to learn! And if he does take over, I'm sure he'll have plans to open a 2nd location in the downtown core (say, in the old Starbucks at Jasper/101).

Derks is moving it's Whyte Ave location to Sherwood Park. I think the building had been for sale last year. Probably redevelopment.

Sad to see an institution like that leave such a central area.

I still remember getting my high school grad suit there.

I'd reckon so and the building is also not capable of expansion unless completely redeveloped, so I can see why they'd move. Would be nice for them to stay central though, but the suburban utopia of the Park is calling I guess.

Maybe an opportunity for a new fine men's wear shop to establish themselves in Old Strathcona?

^^I think it's more to do with the value of the existing building/land for redevelopment than expansion.
