TLC for LRT: upcoming LRT service changes for October
September 25, 2020
Several construction projects are underway on the Capital Line to give it some much-needed TLC; these renewal projects will keep the LRT running smoothly, but will require service changes.
Crews continue to make progress on Stadium LRT Station revitalization, and expect to complete demolition and track replacement work on the southbound track in the first week of October. Once that work is completed, crews will repair the waterproofing on the east roof of the concourse level and install two pedestrian crossings.
Revitalization work will cause Capital/Metro line trains to run every 15 minutes, with Metro Line trains running between Century Park and NAIT, from early October until late-November.
From October 10 - 12, crews will upgrade the tracks north of Southgate Station in order to reduce maintenance costs and noise for nearby residents. During this work, no trains will run between Century Park and South Campus stations. Buses will replace LRT between these stations. LRT replacement bus stops are listed at edmonton.ca/lrtreplacementservice. Capital Line trains will run every 15 minutes between South Campus and Clareview stations. Metro Line trains will run every 15 minutes between South Campus and NAIT stations.
During COVID-19, the City continues to maintain and improve Edmonton through infrastructure renewal. We closely follow the most recent guidelines and recommendations set by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health, and are taking extra steps to ensure workplaces are safe, sanitary and provide proper physical distancing.
It'll be great to cross that bridge on bike once the multi-use path beneath it is open, as it has been quite inconvenient trying to cross between Louise McKinney and Cloverdale.
I'm looking forward to just being able to bike along the river valley to Riverdale again (without having to bike up the river valley... I'm not in that kind of shape )

Oh true, the trail closure at the tunnel portal and bridge may be more inconvenient, since you have to go up the stairs in Louise McKinney and back down again.

Its not that hard it only hits 12% at one point.
In other news. The steel for the ground level station at Churchill is going up today.
And work on the transition station entrance seems to have stopped the last couple of weeks.
Anyone advise on the tracks that look like a switching or marshalling area between Churchill and 97th? Looking at the spacing of rails i can’t tell what is what. https://i.imgur.com/C0Kx2jr.jpg
Also is the red tunnel canopy in the picture below fenced in or will it become a place where homeless people will have access? https://i.imgur.com/VQ0fUrm.jpg

1) Likely additional vibration mitigation, that was in the spec for the area around the the Winspear.
2) That's the cover for the tunnel entrance, you can go in there but it's all monitored.

I believe that you are correct on both accounts.
They have infra-cameras and motion detectors for the tunnel if I recall.
