Sign aside, this is a good location for a bike lane. An unused driving lane that is not used for parking. It actually goes somewhere and is connected to the multi-use paths

I hope the plan is to then connect these street bike lanes with other street bike lanes.

I wonder if it would have met the parking requirements had they added another story with additional units. I’m assuming this is a likely reason as parking seems to be the determining factor for all developments in this city.

It's shocking anything gets done at all in Cathedral. I remember waaaayyy back when the Mac's convenience was proposed on the corner of Elphinstone and 13th. Man was there opposition! The opposition to the Safeway rebuild was beyond stupid. This project was an opportunity missed.

They met the parking requirements with the last plan, they just absorbed the NIMBY complaints and scaled back/left the house up.

Cathedral is performative progressivisim. Is density good? Yes, but not here. Is local walkable retail good? Yes, but we've got too much. Are immigrants good? Yes, but we've got too many here.

It's infuriating.

I stumbled across a news item related to Covid exposure and they called out that hotel construction as Meridian Hotel. Link: https://www.cjme.com/2020/09/23/sask-hea...covid-19-exposure-at-2-regina-locations/

Sounds like it could be the developer. Either way they win the award for the ugliest hotel in Regina.

Not to be confused with the Marriott brand, Le Meridien which has one hotel in Montreal.

Lloydminster Meridian. Ugly brand signage. Yuck.

But I guess a slight upgrade...lol

Looks like its a Royal Hotel group project.

Empire 'Hotel' comes to mind. Hands down, it is the ugliest hotel in Regina. Now before you say it is no longer a hotel, it looks the same as it did 35 years ago when me and a group of my co-workers would walk over from the Derrick Building for Friday after-work drinks. Even back then the joke was that you sat with your back against the wall.

The Empire is miles away better than that thing. And it's still a hotel.

My vote goes for Four Points on Dewdney. Bland, dull, has a gigantic front parking area on what should have been the start of a revitalized railyards area and is completely suburban in an urban setting. It is absolute garbage for design right in the core.

At least the Royal Hotel is suburban in a suburban setting. It fits in perfectly with Harbour Landing's aesthetic. The McDonald's colouring is tragic, yes and it is quite ugly, but It's Four Points for me.

Can I throw Saskatoon's Best Western Plus by the airport into the ugliest contest? It's only a few years old, but has been ugly since it opened.

Actually don’t mind the Four Points on Dewdney compared to other stucco rectangle hotels in Regina.
