Does anybody know what the new building going up east of the landfill is?
It's a new facility for the city... that's located in the bloody RM of Sherwood. They are decentralizing some departments and plan to do more to make the city more inefficient.
It's actually outrageous and the city should have been raked over the coals in the media for it. But nothing but crickets.

Have the construction crews reached Victoria and Broad Street regarding the beautification project? (Can you tell that this project is something that I am excited about? Lol)
Does anyone know if there is a plan for the new framing going up at the front of Aurora on Victoria Avenue East? We went to Costco last night. The framing is up for a pretty substantial building.

Is the new building to the north of Landmark Cinemas? If so, it may be the new Staples store.
Thank you. It is probably Staples. That will free up a really big chunk of real estate on Vic East where the old Costco is. I thought I'd heard Auto Gallery Had bought the old Costco and work was supposed to start last summer but nothing.

Tender is out for short MUP connecting Pilot Butte Creek path to University Park Dr. Design shows some tweaking of existing path. Was supposed to be done this year, but tender indicates completion by June 30, 2021. #yqrbike #yqr

It's about time. That stretch has been oddly without a connection for years. Now, they need to build a pedestrian overpass at Vic East to connect Glencairn/Parkridge to the rest of the city's path system on the south side of Vic and they need to continue the path work on Prince Of Wales north of Quance so there's an actual pedestrian walkway that continues from Vic south to Arcola and beyond. Right now, there's a 1 block stretch with no sidewalk or path at Best Buy. Totally stupid.
Glencairn/Parkridge is connected to the bike path, but not via PoW. I agree that some solution to cross Victoria Ave is desirable because right now it's an at-grade crossing, but after crossing Victoria Ave, Coleman & Quance have double-wide sidewalks on the south side of the street until it meets the path that snakes behind the strip mall with the Breakfast Bistro etc.
I think improvements to the bike path system are good. A path down Arcola would take bike traffic off the road. Princes of Wales out to the Creeks or Greens (depending which side they use) could connect to the N/S on PofW.
It would also be nice to see Harbour Landing's pathways connected into the bike system.

Yeah, I'm wondering if you could do that on the west side of the Lewvan or if it's too close to the runway.
Yup, the Scarth Street Mall, Oops! The Frederick W Hill Mall, looks like shit, but it's no worse than many of the sidewalks downtown, especially along 11th Avenue. Again, these are some of the highest taxed, and high profile properties in the city, where a lot of out of town people come, let alone us the citizens. The corner of said mall and 11th Avenue on the BMO Building corner is atrocious! Everyone has to be careful that you don't twist or sprain an ankle or worse yet, fall. What an f'ing embarrassment!!
I wish the City had spent a few million dollars fixing the streets, sidewalks and lighting before they ever built the useless (in my opinion) City Square Plaza.
F%$&ing City! 😡
If Paul Hill wanted to honour his father he could donate some money to renovate the mall named for him.
