No, not 360 Main.

The old skin was sun bleached to hell. The new skin is glass on a curtain wall panel that had very little vision glass. In other words, most of it is back painted spandrel. It's terrible. Shiny and new over bleached to hell is a distraction.

[QUOTE=MonkeyRonin;8972392]Interesting shot down the Avenue Rd. "canyon" north of St. Clair. I've always really liked this strip of elegant modernist towers:

I agree. The third tower down on the right side of the street with the slightly slanted roof is quite unique and appealing.

The recently built grey spandrel wannabe on the left tries so hard to blend in but fails.

My dream is to live in One Benvenuto Place not too far south of there.

^That's how you do density in a medium-sized Canadian city (Victoria too).

Bookending Canada we have 2 gems in Halifax and Victoria. I remember fondly many years in the former and dying to check out the latter.

I believe the sloped roof building is 150 Heath. Good choice. One of the most luxurious addresses of the late seventies, early eighties.

423 Avenue remains at the top of my list should I ever go condo apartment again. full floor, unprecedented views, complete gut so cheap to buy.

407 Walmer is second. Tranquil setting

Yesterday was the first drive-in night at Zibi. Low quality image, but we can see the edge of the central business district followed the mostly residential Escarpment District.

The density in Halifax is impressive. Great mix of styles and eras. It's come a long way over the past 10-15 years.

Since we are on east coast cities, here is a recent aerial shot of a portion of the uptown peninsula area of Saint John NB.

That Halifax picture is a bit old, I think from 2017 or so. Those under construction buildings are done now and there are some new ones that would be visible in the foreground (notably Jade and the Green Lantern, Queen's Marque, and Flynn Flats). The Ralston Building, a greyish stone building in the foreground, has been demolished.

2 of the foreground waterfront lots have large planned developments. A 16 storey residential building for the lower left parking lot (Cunard block) and then there is a design competition happening for a new art gallery that will be built behind the wood boardwalk that is jutting out toward the right side. I have no idea what that will look like; designs were supposed to be chosen in July but I wonder if that will be delayed due to covid.

Richmond Yards in the North End would show up well from this angle too; a complex with a few different buildings, the tallest being 30 storeys. More and more the main Halifax "skyline" shots are going to include buildings outside of the old downtown core below the Citadel, which is just part of the modern downtown that is developing.

November 2017.

EDIT: An Ottawa forumer suggested the picture might have been taken from the Pink Lake area of Gatineau Park.
