With the tech we have now they should be able to reduce the amount of mechanical on the roof. But, the building itself has limits in how the ducts can be run.

Ugh. Do I read correctly, retain much of the above-grade parkade?

That thing already has to be more than half-past its physical life and they want to keep a bunch of it? Connect the dots!

Where have you been, he’s yvr snob that lives for trashing Edmonton. It must be incredibly tiring/draining being so incessantly Negative.

I spent my first 22 years in Edmonton. The growth of the downtown back then is what I hold close to my heart; it formed my love for real estate development and architecture. And I'll comment on what I like and don't like, regardless of city, and trust me every place has projects to be celebrated and otherwise. Edmonton isn't going to get a free pass just because one shouldn't trash one's own city. Otherwise, the city will continue on its insular trajectory of second-rate project designs by uninspired "architects", questionable colour palettes and developers for whom, largely, are content with the bare minimum of "good enough", even when the rest of us know it isn't even close enough to good enough.

If your king has no clothes, call him out.

I CARE about Edmonton, believe it or not. And I'll continue to demand better, even if Edmonton continues to kick and scream as it gets dragged along.

Sorry, that's a bit of a rant in response but it's because I care. If that's what constitutes being called a troll these days..

It really is about your choice of words - like “soo Edmonton”. Your trashing a whole City when apparently you have issues with the developer and designer. Surely you could think and find the right words for the right audience before you hit the keypad?.

The original push back here on this site was that stick frame shouldn’t be downtown... but if/when Edmonton gets to the point where land is limited/valued enough, this can easily be torn down... but realistically that is 30+ years out (optimistically). So why not have some well done small scale residential added in the meantime?
