I don't mind Swiss Chalet either. It's good value, as stated by others. Very retro inside the Brentwood location.

They recently renovated the Brentwood location.. somewhat. A lot of things are new.. but still has the same retro feel.

There used to be around 10 Swiss Chalet locations in the lower mainland.. now there are 3.

Swiss Chalet is waaaay more popular in eastern Canada -- even in Alberta -- so 90 percent of the time you hear anyone talking about it, it's transplants from outside BC. Myself included.

Festive Special was a holiday tradition in my family going back to when I had baby teeth, yet anyone I know who actually grew up in Vancouver looks at me like I'm from Mars when I talk about it.

They renovated half of the seating area. The other half is still straight from the 80s.

This discussion actually made me order Skip from the Brentwood location. Wasn't disappointed. Also, their Holiday Feast is even better value and has become a tradition in our household as well, at least two years in row.

Oh wow, the Tsawwassen First Nation sure isn't worried about ALR. It has been a while since I have been driving in the Deltaport area and man is the new Amazon Fulfilment Centre YVR4 massive! There is another logistics center of the same size right next to it.

It is also incredible how many new stores have gone in the Tsawwassen Commons just north of Tsawwassen Mills. They must be close to being fully built-out for that area and it is starting to put many American suburban malls to shame with how massive it is!

With few years of this pace and the entire First Nations land has been replaced by condos and retail. Pretty incredible to see in person.

Actually not that large compared to most cities I've heard of, which can be 3x the size of the TFN operation.

Still large for Vancouver, though.

I was also surprised at the scale of development out there when I went in May. There are actual new SFH neighbourhoods, townhouses, apartments, plus all the retail. I never would have thought that area would be what it is now, South Delta has always been notoriously anti development, and was one of the slower growing areas of the LM. But the TFN was a game changer and I wouldn't be surprised if they are one of the faster growings places either next census or (more realistically) 2026

Tsawwassen commons isn’t a mall though. How is it putting American suburban malls to shame if it isn’t a mall?

i dont know what he would call it, but i would call it a "Strip Mall" which is very suburban american.

Yea, Edmonton Commons is the largest Power Centre in the world, I assume they still hold that title.
