I wonder how it ranked if you exclude NYC and Chicago. Top 10? Top 5?

According to Wikipedia, it was the tallest building in the Commonwealth and the third tallest skyscraper in the world outside of the U.S.

PVM would have been the tallest tower in Chicago in 1962. Chicago didn't pass 200 metres until 1969; the same year as Toronto. 1969 was also the year the first supertall was completed in Chicago.

I look forward to exploring Halifax in the near future and confirming your hypothesis on the similarities between the cities
I did figure the truck thing was a coincidence good timing though, it makes for an interesting photo. I did notice the "bike route" sign on that street and definitely noticed a lot of bike infrastructure (and cyclists) last time I was there.

Glad to hear you're planning a trip out! I think you'll enjoy it here

Yeah man, I’ve always figured I’ll love Halifax. The guy I’m kinda in love with had to move back out to Pictou County to help out his family back in October, and wants to bring me out there once this whole thing is over. So definitely gonna rock some days in Halifax.

7th tallest today is 530m ffs. 20th is 425m
Here is a link to the diagram page showing the 25 tallest buildings in the world in 1963. Montreal is the only city outside of NYC to show 3 buildings here.

Weird that it would say that. If you use SSP's diagram, you can clearly see PVM was the tallest outside the USA in 1962.

Edit: I get it, Wikipedia is counting Moscow and Warsaw's Stalin sisters spires as height.

I knew Hancock was their first modern scraper but I was sure they had some early 20th century towers that were as tall or taller than PVM. Thats crazy.
