Love that last Yonge & Dundas pic, looks so crisp and clear. Is that a recent pic, is that why nobody is in the square?

It says it was taken Oct 19th last year. And how it looks now.

I've mentioned this before but despite the two cities' very different geographic and historic contexts, in terms of contemporary, non-landmark architecture, they're a surprisingly close match (closer than Halifax-Southern Ontario or Calgary-Edmonton, for example).

The other thing that stands out is that almost every vehicle in this photo is a truck; there are no small vehicles.

Edit (third thing): there's something about the colour palette of the Calgary skyline that I find really pleasant.

I agree on all counts. But I assure you! The truck thing is almost entire coincidence. There are way too many trucks here, but that exact moment was not a good time to snap seconds before there were two bikers zooming by right past me and I literally said “fuck” out loud because i got that instead. The stereotype of Calgary exemplified.

I look forward to exploring Halifax in the near future and confirming your hypothesis on the similarities between the cities

Wow did I ever have a difficult time orienting myself with that pic, with the way the big 4 are situated and with the size on the tower relative to the big 4... I finally figured it out tho
