I'm in Silver Seas so was looking at it from the opposite side, unfortunately I don't belong to any photo hosting sites so can't post my photos. Just saw your video showing the second helicopter.

Here's the flight tracking for the lift chopper:

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/CGTLW/history/20200509/1432Z/CYVR/CYHC

It was used by the Fukuoka City Fire Department for 20 years

The spotter chopper?

I'm not on Council. You stand for election, get Council to adopt your idea, and we'll all watch to see how it works out.

Who owns these properties lol? I usually agree with you but your idea about holding managers responsible is insane. Its like if the Owner of a McD refuses to pay for proper maintenance and a customer trips, suddenly they can sue the manager and the Owner gets off?

You want an employee making 50k a year to be responsible for millions, possibly 10's of millions?
Yeah not happening. You might as well eliminate the job entirely because no one would do it when there's a 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 wage, 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 hours, 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 clients, and constant bankrupting lawsuits.

I have one private story to share that was word of mouth. One property manager was managing a large building and the former council president was being investigated by the police for stealing $100's of thousands. As it was an active investigation he could not discuss it. That guy and his friends were re-elected at the AGM. He then asked for control of the accounts so he can write the cheques. The Property Manager went to the Real Estate Council and disclosed his concerns. The REC said he must listen to the orders of the Strata Council, no exceptions. The Property Manager resigned rather than be party to the President stealing more money. The next Property Manager of course did not know about the background and gave him the chequebook. But it wouldn't matter if he did, the Property Manager is an agent of the Strata, with few exceptions he must listen to Council's instructions even if they are wrong. If a Strata Council steals money or makes stupid decisions thats an internal dispute of the Strata. The Property Manager is there to serve.

I read a comment somewhere that someone accidentally broke a pane of glass in one of the penthouses and this was the only way to get a replacement up there.

Someone said that on the DailyHive comments as well. And they also had a barge in False Creek that the helicopter was landing on.

Management answers for the owners: same thing. Fine the owners if you must.

Not even close to the same thing. Management is an employee taking instructions. They have no interest in the building, they gain nor lose nothing financially. Its like blaming the cashier for the quality of the food in the store or the prices.

That's insane. I mean, if you can suspend one of those window-cleaning scaffolding up and down a tower, why can't they use a stronger one to transport up window panes? Wouldn't that be cheaper than using a chopper? Maybe gas is a lot cheaper now to justify that, or I could be wrong about my assumption, and that helicopter-hoisting is a lot cheaper these days.

They have a duty and job to inform owners what is wrong and get more funding to maintain buildings. Cutting corners to help owners save on costs is negligence. That should be a universal rule.

No they don't. They have no duty to inform Owners of most things. Only the Strata Council.

They have no duty to get more funding. The Strata Council decides what funding to ask for at the AGM. The Owners vote on it.

Yes Strata's cut corners. But its not the Property Managers decision.

Generally the Strata Council will hire the cheapest janitorial, window washer, property manager, etc.
