It looks quite different and less nautical than the plan.

a few more miscellaneous from yesterday...

the one on Market at the Fast Frame site across from former Flax, shroud-less

Serif

the remodeled one on Folsom and Hawthorne

hotel at 72 Ellis near Powell

120 Stockton (Macy's)

Sutter and Grant, I think

the affordable project at the foot of Telegraph Hill near the Embarcadero (and right behind where the recently-approved Teatro ZinZanni will be) was much further along than I had expected. will be so great to have that whole area filled in!

corner of Front and Broadway

I had not realized that the make-over of Folsom St extended all the way to the block where Infinity sits (Main), but, lo:

speaking of Folsom, I just can't resist throwing in a pic now and then of its shining new-ness

the little passageway at 400 Folsom has a new piece of artwork with a well-executed illusion

the work on the make-over had definitely progressed since I was there last

I think this was the corner that was all torn up in my and John King's article's photos

the little greenspace in progress on Guy Place, just up the hill from Folsom. think the original plan had been for the space to step down with the slope of the hill, but to make it ADA-compliant would have used up too much of the space with ramps, so it is level. unfortunate side-effect is that the downhill neighbor(s) now have a wall in front of their windows, and is/are upset about this, I seem to remember reading

Second St is also undergoing a make-over, of course, and work has shifted to the blocks south of the freeway overpass. here you can see the bit of widening the east sidewalk is getting

alleys get raised entrances (this one at 21st Amendment)

daytime shot of the project behind 21st Amendment

looking down the street (north) from Brannan

and to the south

another shot where the sidewalk widening (complete, in this case) is evident

Two Cranes, Morning Light

The crane in the foreground is for Trinity Place IV. The red crane with the blue lights I don't know what site that is - think it is on Mission Street. I noticed the lights for the first time a few weeks ago. The color of the blue light is true, the buildings have a pink color from the morning light behind the rain clouds

Two Cranes

Not the 5M development as this one is about 3 blocks from the Fox Plaza. I can see the Chronicle building just left of the Federal Building. When the hunker down in place is lifted I will have to walk over there to see which one this is.

361 Turk Street Development

A new construction crane sprouted up in my view today! Thanks to Pedestrian's post #9851 of 8/7/2019 I was able to discover where it is located. See his post for drawing of the building. Also see this link for more information, pictures:

https://www.buzzbuzzhome.com/us/tl-361

I had a client in one of the twin buildings with the balconies in the background of the photograph 30 years ago when I had a client when I was a volunteer with Shanti. The two elevators were like tin cans, very small. accommodating only about 5 people. I liked the building as the walls are concrete which means less noise from neighbors. A big negative is that there is a courtyard between the 2 buildings which means noisy children playing there.

you didn't have to go back that far, necessarily - it's also in this post, 10178, from about a month ago

timbad - I took the first thing that came up in the search. I should have started from the most current to past results. Appreciate you incredible posts. Don't know how you get about & get so many pictures! Looks like I will be looking out of my window for another month except for a trip to get food from Safeway.

Great to see progress here.

Every time I see or read about this project I can’t help but think about how nice it’d be for the adjacent stretch of Cesar Chavez to catch case of redevelopment—both housing and light industrial.

I imagine it will happen. I like that Dogpatch core has been pretty thoroughly remade first to consolidate that, and now hope that the effort moves south from there toward Cesar Chavez and maybe the north side of Islais Creek (the south side may be too tough a nut to crack for now). it would be good if the Cesar Chavez east-west connection were more pleasant on this end.

A new development proposed for the Western part of the City.

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/...s-sloat-garden-center-will-close-to.html

The Sloat Garden Center, a fixture on Sloat Street in San Francisco for more than 50 years, is slated to close as the owner prepares to sell the Sunset District site to a developer who plans to build condos there.

An application filed with the San Francisco Planning Department on April 1 details plans for a 213-unit, mixed-use development at 2700 Sloat Blvd., a one-block site totaling nearly one acre near Ocean Beach and the San Francisco Zoo.

The project is slated to feature 65 two-bedroom, 22 three-bedroom, 28 one-bedroom and 98 studio apartments, spread across three eight-story buildings on three separate parcels. The PPA also proposes an alternative that would feature “one building with multiple two story towers that could possibly connect.”

Any chance for the Safeway parking lot on Market near Castro to be redeveloped? Seems like a waste of space. The whole site is actually prime for a mixed use project reincorporating the Safeway and parking into a larger redevelopment.

For the moment, the CDC has apparently advised the city NOT to try to force the homeless out of their tents and into shelters on the belief that individual tents are more “socially distanced” than communal living in shelters. I’d like the city, though, to move the tents off sidewalks and onto under- or un-used surface parking lots since almost nobody is commuting these days and few people are even driving so the lots are just sitting there.
