they should actually be about to start work on the center BRT lanes (boarding islands, catenary, paving etc) any time now and winding up the utility work by fall.

Where have all the corner boys gone?

As most of you know, I've been away from SF since October and looking at these pics plus those in such as sopas ej's travel photos, the city really looks cleaner to me with many fewer folks camped on the sidewalks and so on. Is my impression correct? Can we thank Mayor Breed (it's what she promised)?

this was the hearing notice I was reading (edit: the summarized version, of course; the kind that gets posted outdoors), which, when reading quickly, looks like a recent conversion request

Teatro Zinzanni

yay, Teatro Zinzanni finally got approvals

Groundbreaking is planned for the fall, with a reopening targeted for 2022 as part of a larger project with a hotel and park. The whole project will cost about $145 million.

Teatro ZinZanni is partnering with Kenwood Investments LLC and Presidio Hotel Group on the project, and the venue will share the property with a 192-room hotel and a 14,000-square-foot park.

This (along with 10 S. Van Ness) will aid greatly in improving the stretch of Market between Octavia and Van Ness. The three other projects either underway or recently completed on this stretch (Flax, Fast Frame, 1554 Market) have filled in the majority of the other gaps.

Now if only the project at 1740-1772 would get underway:

Took a trip up and down Van Ness today to see how the progress is going.

They are at various stages of work on the east side between Mcallister and Geary (they have poured pretty much all the curbs but only a few blocks of sidewalk, and have only repaved the traffic lanes on the first couple blocks). Presumably they will get to the northernmost blocks of this portion (Geary to Sutter-ish) shortly.

On the northern portion of the west side of the street they look to be nearing completion on infrastructure work and should start pouring concrete soon.

SF Central Subway project rolling along

MARCH 11, 2020 BY MARK PRADO

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority has shared a Central Subway project construction update via video.

Last year saw milestones for the project, including the reopening of Stockton Street through Chinatown and Union Square as well as some of the major final touches to the stations like escalators and public art, according to the agency.

The project aims to wrap-up most construction this summer followed by about a year of testing to make sure the trains run properly. After the testing period, the Central Subway is projected to begin service in the fall of 2021.

Pedestrian - thanks for posting the link. I've been wondering what was happening under the ground. I may yet live to ride on the new subway!

^^Did you watch the video?

PS: If you want to live to ride it, stay off Muni until it opens.

After reading about 469 Stevenson on Socketsite I saw that there may also be some progress (finally) on 1125 Market, just a block away.

It appears a building permit was filed late December for a 14-story / 180-room hotel.

Here's the rendering I found via the engineer's site for the Woods Bagot designed structure:

I was surprised to learn that, according to 469 Stevenson's EIR, there are 16 or so active proposals within quarter-mile of the project.

Fantastic (not the design but the fact of something being built there).

Sorry but I get the impression a lot of people on this site might not have and that's the really informative part of the thing I posted. Some people don't even click on links it seems like.

No workers today at Trinity Place IV on the 1st shelter in place day. Are all of the jobs sites now idle?!

According to the Chronicle:

The order allows all housing projects to continue — market rate, affordable, and mixed-use — while construction projects that are strictly commercial must temporaily shut down.
