Sad to hear it's now closed, but not surprising. I never saw that place very busy, even on a Friday night. I ate there once with a large party and enjoyed the food. Tons of potential in that space, especially with the historical bar.

Downtown Dining Week is officially cancelled as of tonight.

---

Updated March 16, 2020, 5:15 pm
As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase daily in Edmonton and across the country, the health and safety of Downtown workers, visitors and residents is of utmost importance to us. And so it is with deep regret, that we have made the decision to cancel Downtown Dining Week, effective Monday, 11:59 pm, March 16, as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Our Downtown restaurants have already taken measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but we want to take further precautions to ensure that Downtown Dining Week does not compromise the health and safety of our community at large, as we await further direction from our public health authorities and different orders of government.
While we are cancelling the remainder of this year’s event, we are still encouraging you to support Downtown restaurants and the many other businesses in our community that remain open. Consider socially responsible ways to continue your support and ensure that we assist those business owners and their employees in these uncertain times.

do you have a favourite dining establishment or coffee shop you haven't been to lately (or were planning to for downtown dining week)?

if so, think about how much their business has dropped off in the last week or two and where it is likely to end up (the nook on 97th street is down more than 60% already ).

and after you've thought about it, please think about purchasing a gift certificate or two from them. you can probably do it on-line if, like me, you are social distancing as much as possible.

it won't make much difference to you but having that extra bit of cash available to keep their business viable until you have a chance to use the certificate could make all the difference in the world to them as the "float" you're loaning them is the gross amount, not their nominal net margin.

Heard that a few restaurants that were not using meal delivery services are now doing so. Might work out well. My wife birthday is this week and as much as we want to head out, using a reputable restaurant (Not Ghost Kitchen) may be a nice compromise.

Yup I agree. I look at some of them and they look to have less health features than food trucks.

Although I hate the project, I'm glad the materials they chose (and used Scorpio to do so) look decent. Design is still Mickey Mouse. I heard Arcadia is going to brew too, anyone else?

Join us Wednesday:

https://www.facebook.com/events/2490634637866462/

Join us on April 1, from 12-1, for #EatWithMeYEG, edition three.

Our guest is Ian O’Donnell from the Downtown Business Association of Edmonton. We’re going to learn from Ian what's happening Downtown, eat lunch and take action. We love #downtown and we love eating together!

We'll also be joined by friends from the City of Edmonton's "Hello, Let's Eat!"/"Hello, How Are You?" campaign!

WHAT: #EatWithMeYEG is a virtual lunch that supports local businesses and helps us stay connected with each other and our communities during social distancing. For those interested, we'll also have a virtual discussion about how we can support local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEN: April 1, 12-1 pm.

WHERE: Over the phone and virtual. See join details below.

WHY: On March 18 we launched our first virtual lunch — the YEG Chinatown Take-Out Edition. We were inspired by the #IWillEatWithYou movement, started by the Australian community action organization GetUp! (getup.org.au/) to support businesses and restaurants affected by racism and xenophobia resulting from COVID-19. We were also inspired by our friends in Vancouver who organized a similar event in their Chinatown on March 13.

HOW:
1) Order take-out or delivery from your favourite Downtown restaurant. www.edmontondowntown.com

Here is a list of restaurants in Edmonton that are still open for business. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...C2c4aYRcvwLhqgouPZqKjNN9TOiAoeG2NU#gid=0

Or, donate a meal:
-Edmonton's Food Bank: https://www.edmontonsfoodbank.com/donate-now/
-Meals on Wheels: https://mealsonwheelsedmonton.org/
-U of A Campus Food Bank: https://campusfoodbank.com/donate
-Hope Mission
-The Mustard Seed

2) Click on the Zoom link to gather virtually for lunch and a discussion, drop in between 12-1pm. * The Zoom link will be posted here one hour before lunch.

Alternatively, you can dial (we just won't be able to SEE you): *Phone number will be posted here an hour before lunch.

DISCUSSION:
Join us for a chat while we eat lunch.
How are you doing? What's happening on the streets of Downtown? What are some ways other than ordering outs that we support small businesses? How can we support those dealing with acute food and job insecurity at this time? How are other local food producers, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and shops doing? What does a resilient local food system and economy look like?
--
We also recognize this is a tough time for everyone with a lot of people without jobs or income to even enjoy their favourite restaurant. Please do what makes sense for you. All are welcome to join for the discussion. We look forward to seeing you!

Stay tuned for other editions in the coming weeks to support businesses and restaurants in other parts of Edmonton. Or feel free to host one yourself! Let us know how we can help support.

--
Previous Editions:
#1: March 18: Chinatown Edition
#2: March 25: Old Strathcona Edition
