Imo it’s gonna happen soon as the crane-raising mechanisms are well in place, providing that the environment for raising it is safe enough.

Looks like the tether is on, although none of the camera angles are quite right to say for sure. They'll go as soon as they have a window is my guess.

I am surprised the crane was not placed inside the concrete elevator shaft.

The CIBC centre in Toronto is being built with a concrete core and steel structure. I sadly must mention the whole project including excavation, concrete core, steel construction and all glass curtain walls in excess of 40 stories is now completed having commenced construction well after the start of 360 Main. The delay can be a result of trades, material, weather, and of course permitting and inspections. I cannot begin to imagine the cost overruns not just in these items but also the interest and financing. While I am overjoyed at the construction of this project, the financial pain to Artis is huge and may I say embarrassing for such a storied enterprise.

It is VERY challenging to take on a project like this in Winnipeg. I hope things may finally pick up speed as we head into spring.

Office tower at River Landing in the S'Toon wasn't even out of the ground back in August and now its at about roughly the same level as 360 Main!

That one was fast. I’d say a 26m height difference is not small though. It’s almost the same as the height difference between 360 main and 300 main

The tallest one in River Landing is 91m, 360 main is 117m and 300 main will be ~142m

Is this what they're talking about when they say building in Winnipeg is expensive? The fact it's just painful slow and disorganized compared to the tower building machine that is Toronto, and not to do with materials and trades $/hr?

No but you kind of answered your own rhetorical question (well, I assume it was rhetorical) Toronto is building towers every day of every year. We're not. Until a little over a decade ago, we hadn't even had need of a tower crane for at least a decade sooooo....

That is a general statement and not indicative of Winnipeg. It is the builder or general contractor that influence this. PCL and Bockstael put up towers fairly quickly - TrueNorth Square 1&2, 290 Colony etc.

D-Condo had an in-experienced developer for high-rises, 300 Main has been a comedy of errors, Glasshouse contractor went out of business. Toronto has many more large scale builders with many towers of experience behind them.

Yeah, Marwest is clearly showing they are in way over their heads with this project! The winds are light today, what's the excuse now for not raising the crane yet?

300 Main went a bit sideways (and has never caught back up) because of supplier issues.

Suppliers of the steel and pre-cast concrete went bankrupt AFTER tender. Not small ticket items, or easy ones to quickly re-source.

This is not the fault of the developer/contractor/whomever.

It may have been easier to fix somewhere like Toronto where there are more suppliers ready to step in, but overall just a 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 set of circumstances.
