Unfortunately it looks like this news means that the Bank of Montreal building at Main and James will be empty again. Hopefully not for long.

I don't think the Bank of Montreal building will have a hard time finding tenants. It's a class A office building, which is lacking in Hamilton. Plus it has its own parking space at the back.

Moving dirt at the NE corner of the innovation park property i.e. between the MIP Atrium building and the 403. Is this where the hotel is going? Pic taken two days ago.

I guess it must be for something else since today and tomorrow they are drilling boreholes for the hotel in the parking lot on the northwest corner.

The new work is to add more parking to replace the parking lot to the hotel construction. This is temporary as there is plans for this land.
Also a new parking garage is to be built at the rear of the Atrium Building to replace lost ground parking in the future.

Boreholes

The city decided that the last environmental assessment of the hotel land was old, even though nothing has changed in over 10 years.
The city ordered that a new assessment was required before they would issue a building permit for the hotel. Hence the boreholes being drilled.

That’s a provincial requirement, not municipal. The city is simply tasked with enforcing it.

They are moving dirt around the site, I don't know if they'll start the foundation this winter (I doubt it), so I assume they are just prepping the site.

So reading about the LRT cancellation, apparently Metrolynx was supposed to pay for the Frid Street extension. So who knows when that will be.

And pay for the new Longwood bridge replacement over the 403. God knows what will happen now.

The site for the LRT maintenance and storage building, did the city pay for the land or did Metrolinx? I know the city was to build and operate it so maybe the city owns the land?

Metrolinx bought the land, split it with the city and MIP. They where going to pay 100% of the Frid street extension.

Interesting adjustment by MIP. The idea of adding residential to the mix is mildly concerning but I'll trust their judgement that it's a necessity for the overall success of the Park.
