Cidex are one of the cheapest developers I've worked with, so don't expect quality materials or construction lol.

The West Village towers podium is the tombstone for Calgary's West End.

The one thing that surprised me was they love 64mm steel studs (lightest gauge they can get away with), makes the walls kinda flimsy and would be tough to hang anything on.

A design competition has begun for a new arts district on the Halifax waterfront that will include a new art gallery: https://developns.ca/news/arts-district-design-competition-launches/

This is the site:

Designs are supposed to be available by the summer sometime.

This area is going through some other changes too. The other waterfront parking lot is the Cunard redevelopment site:

One block up from the arts district, the Ralston redevelopment is happening:

The scale of that seems to be a little too big for the area. The design needs to be broken up a bit. It's a nice looking building though.

The Square One District, Mississauga - 37 Towers, 18M Square Feet

Square One District

This is a huge development that will fill in all of the empty space around Square One, easily the largest mall redevelopment plan to date. There will be approximately 18000 residential units as part of this development, in addition to new office towers and extensive ground-level retail. This also includes an upgrade to the MCC transit terminal. Oxford, AIMCo, and HPA are involved.

Something like this has been a long time coming for Mississauga. Downtown will be unrecognizable. I'm hoping that this development will help put the HuLRT MCC loop back in play, as well as putting a downtown subway stop back on the radar.

They could style it like Plaza de la Revolución in Havana. Instead of Jose Marti, there would be a statue of Hazel McCallion. Imagine the funeral when she finally departs in 2316.

Send some of that development to Hamilton, they need some of this boom lol. Impressive vision though, hope it happens.

I would be very impressed if the final product looks half as good as that.

But man, they really need to get that MCC loop back. Would be really, really useful.

In St John's they're proposing a 1000ft snow fort to defend the city from ROC nimbies. Gotta put those shovels to work.

Why does Hamilton keep getting hate-fisted by developers?

Yeah, that taller proposal is aggressively bad. Also, "Vrancor"? What an odd name.
