Exactly. It’s a good filler, the facade restoration should be sweet. It can’t be worst that now.

Anywho, yeah it's definitely easy walking distance to the train. Directly south of Coop, directly north of the canal, and directly west of the new YMCA. It's the perfect spot for a high density node in that neighbourhood.

It's walking distance to the train. What is there to do in this neighbourhood? That's my issue with TOD. It's often about cramming density around transit stations with little regard to building walkable, complete communities. This is TOD in Toronto. Vancouver has built some urban communities around suburban transit stations. This looks like Toronto. Density and high rises but built to the same standards of suburbia

Yeah that's basically Quarry Park in a nutshell. I mean they just built a huge new YMCA there which will be great to have right along the rapid transit network. I think it'll be the first major rec centre along the Ctrain if memory serves. Plus there's a shopping area, a ton of tech offices as well as the Imperial Oil HQ, and a few awesome parks and stuff. Wouldn't say it's "urban/walkable" but it's not a bad attempt for one of Calgary's first major planned TOD nodes. Hopefully we learn from this and Brentwood.

Eh. A filler without being too offensive or bad.

Wow. Wasn't expecting much for this development.

I don't love it and it's not original. But it's the craziest filler this city has ever had.

It WILL be the most outrageous building in the hood, though.

I have faith the facade will turn out better than those in Toronto. It's more lively than great. It has good form. The podium base grounds the tower. The design doesn't share anything in common with the tower above.

Agreed, the tall one looks kind of bulky to me and it looks like they might turn out like these buildings in Mississauga (lots of spandrel, bland boxy design,).
