Fantastic Edmonton shot. There's good density there, and with the tallest building outside toronto some good height. Edmonton's skyline is competing with Calgary now imo. Are they still building that Alldritt tower? That would give Edmonton the 2 tallest buildings outside Toronto, and maybe even surpass some cities in skyline.

What is nuts about that Edmonton shot is that half the skyline in Oliver isn't shown (albeit towers there are much shorter than the CBD). The skyline is much larger than many people think, I suspect.

Well Edmonton is best viewed in low light from far away

That’s actually a pretty decent pic. The new towers do really add to the skyline. It’s too bad the street level downtown is such a dumpster fire

...not quite, but certainly improved. Calgary's is still massive compared to ours, even with Oliver included, but ours certainly punches above its weight now and needs to continue to work on girth, for we have length.

Alldritt has one of the best lots in the city, but what the final height will be is still uncertain. Here's hoping for 280m, but if I were a betting man, i'd say 180-200... which on the top of bank will still feel/look enormous.

Yeah it kind of has a render quality to it lol. Great shot of Edmonton's revujinated skyline for sure.

Edmonton still has a ways to go I would say, another dozen good size towers would do it though. With a 25% office vacancy rate and a glut of condos downtown, Calgary won't be building anything big after Telus is done, so Edmonton has the chance to catch up...

^Don't be so sure about that...

But yes, we need about another 10-15 in the 100-150m range to really develop something great here.

Thankfully, 5 will be accounted for and 5 more likely.

And yes, the Aurora Borealis occurs fairly frequently in virtually all of Alberta, of course it's more common in the north. One has to keep in mind that a city like Sault Ste. Marie is 700 km south of Calgary, and 450-ish km south of the southern border of Alberta.
It may have been in the autumn not the summer too, I can't recall. But an amazing view... we spent a couple hours standing on the street looking at the sky in wonder. Few things in nature can inspire such feelings.

In southern Ontario when we say "west" I don't think we consider that the cities of western Canada are at much higher latitudes. But they are. Similar with St. John's... it's not as far north as some maps would lead us to believe.
(I think your distance measure is a couple hundred kms too long though for SSM... it's closer to the 49th parallel than that)

The combination of Rogers Place and Edmonton's 2 tallest, which are very tall, make this an impressive shot, and from this particular angle make Edmonton's skyline just as interesting to look at as Calgary's or Vancouver's. From most other angles, probly not. Tower density is one aspect of an impressive skyline, but there are other factors too.

Turns out that Sault Ste. Marie at 46.32 N is indeed about 700 km south of Calgary. Huh.

Straight line distance. It tends to differ.

Excellent pano shot TheGreatestX!

Here is one that I took from that same vantage point on October, 2015.

Vancouver and Calgary have so much more going on than Edmonton, like I said, another dozen big towers in Edmonton and we'll talk.
