maybe you're right and it is the same.

except for the tower. and the massing. and the materials.

although it's hard to keep track - renderings seem to be disappearing from their site faster than one can reference/link to them.

Site 3 (east of 106) is a better design, albeit same colour palette more or less and similar height. The South Park sign is incorporated and looks good. However, the building doesn't match the original renderings much at all.

Why do we need the sign there? Put it on the Telus building downtown with the rest of them. Sub standard design and the sign to top it off.

the sign is the most redeeming element there is and you can't mess with something that's existing (or at least you shouldn't be allowed to mess with something existing like that).

this is a much more appropriate use of a sign than they managed with the bowmac sign in vancouver where they turned on the neon icons in the country into a toys r us caricature;

From what I can see the major difference is the old rendering showed three floors of apartments the new on e four.

A very disappointing outcome.
Why is it so easy to bait and switch here? Yes it's zoning compliant, but wasn't there a zoning change predicated on a certain plan? How come major developments can 'value engineer' themselves into this?
100 years from now this is what's thing to be doing there... Yikes.

take a look at the east building's staggered window and balcony treatments executed in a stone facade and take a look at the stacked ones in metal?/stucco? being shown now...

Seeing the river valley from above is just a bonus. The capability to move people down into Rossdale is key for this are to redevelop.

I absolutely agree. I was originally 100% against the idea of a gondola until I went to the stakeholder meeting awhile back. After hearing out their consultant and the multiple examples of gondola systems throughout the world I switched.

For the same reason that dollar stores exist. As long as there's a market for sub-par products that have a price that matches, there will be a supplier. That market is further driven by over-hyped products where you'd be paying a premium for a facade that adds no actual substantial benefit.

Muttart Urban District is on my watch list, only one commercial retail space on the first building and it's on the opposite side of what was supposed to be the main commercial strip.

I believe that the renderings posted above are not comparing the same sites. The one that is currently under construction is located west of 106 Street (top rendering), the bottom rendering is the site located east of 106 Street which hasn't started.

While I am not too enthused with the rendering I am willing to see how this turns out. It looks like they are using some decent materials - brick masonry.
