I'd disagree. I am in that tower usually once and in some cases several times a week and I think it's being maintained very well.

You're definitely a negative type person. Edmonton (and likely everyplace else) is never good enough for you. Other than working in Edmonton and being paid well your life must be miserable. Personally if I hated a place as much as you do, I would never live there - and if I had to for monetary reasons - I wouldn't bitch about it ever day. That would drive anyone to despair and negativity as we see from your posts.

I work in the tower full time and there are cleaners going through the lobby and floors every day. Not sure what damage you are seeing, but the tower seems very well maintained from my eyes.

I’d like to nominate Edmonton’s new official weed: construction fencing.

Rusty, ugly, flimsy. Once it entwines its tendrils around a muddy patch of vacant land, it doesn’t let go. Swampy patches of weeds inside breed mosquitoes. Outside, sharp support beams jut out onto the sidewalk, a spiteful tripping hazard.

The former Arlington Apartment site is perhaps the worst example — construction fencing has held that prime downtown site in its grip since the fire of 2005.

But these are everywhere. I have four within two blocks of my house in northwest Edmonton. Ask around and people are quick to volunteer their most-hated: the former ATB building on 129 Avenue in Calder, the weedy patch at 114 Street and Jasper Avenue, derelict buildings along Fort Road, the small patches of residential ugliness like on 121 Street north of 102 Avenue.

That's awesome, would be great to activate that area some more, certainly would make going to a ball game a bit more enticing (for me anyway)

Nearly burst out in laughter when I noticed the gon-doh-la was part of the proposal...it's just so cheesy to me, I'll never get the appeal

My understanding is the City just wasn't going to renew the lease as is, but wanted to open it up to proposals from interested parties that include upgrades (on a 10 year term, I think?), and Prospects were very much invited to put forth their proposal.

Could the baseball diamond be used for Edmonton FC matches? I know at one time the team was seeking at 10,000 person stadium. Portland converted their ball diamond for soccer and college football.

I think gondola is the best thing ever for this area. Literally a 3-5 minute ride from heart of Downtown or Whyte: beats any bus or car

Seeing the river valley from above is just a bonus. The capability to move people down into Rossdale is key for this are to redevelop.

take a closer look at their website for the 'new' easterly building before you jump in and defend either end. the new easterly building is a pretty good match for what's shown here as the more westerly building.

and they're both pretty good examples of what a previous mayor swore we would never build here any more.
