Yep i've been in and out of S3 a handful of times the past week and agree it looks sleek (and has improved function). Bollards could have been moved outward a bit IMO, but do a fair job as is.

The additional gates will mostly accommodate larger planes such as Delta Air Lines' A350.

I struggle to understand why all the parking and road relocations are needed. Looking at an aerial view, seems like the concourse can be extended by moving the fire rescue station and leaving everything else the same. Maybe the configuration is wonkier than I'm thinking.

As the Canopy construction concludes, construction on the four pedestrian bridges begins.

The South Canopy is expected to be complete in early fall 2019.

The toddler is lucky he didn't get hit with a pusher.

Just have to say... our airport was already so nice on the inside. Anytime a friend visits me from out of town, they rave about Hartsfield-Jackson on their way in and out. Having flown a lot myself the last few years, I definitely prefer our airport to any in the nation and most of the international ones I've seen. But these canopies are amazing and really make an even better impression. Looking forward to the ped bridges and exterior remodeling being completed.

The airport hotel has been redesigned and will be a Hilton rather than an Intercontinental.

Have you seen the design for the T-North extension?? The aircraft parking positions jut out the the west, perpendicular to the rest. So all of those enabling projects are required in order to make the gates fit. The airport absolutely did not want to impede on the end-around taxiway next door because it is far too valuable to the efficiently of moving aircraft around the northside departure runway. It has been so valuable that they are building another one around the south sides innermost runway.

Also, it is definitely worth it to build these 5-gates, because it will allow AA to consolidate on T and other carriers will gain access to its former US Airways gates on D. 5 gates can handle about 60 daily departures if used efficiently. That’s significant for an airport with the steadily growing demand @ ATL.
