I was at the airport two weeks ago (going on my trip) and last week (returning from my trip), the new canopy is a nice addition along with the exterior upgrades.

Yeah, one time I arrived in Atlanta late in the evening and the trains were down, had to walk from the last concourse all the way to the terminal... was a very long walk (especially while carrying luggage).

Also, as to what it is, they are new canopies covering the vehicular and pedestrian entries to the domestic north and south terminals. The north one, on the left, is complete, and in the photo you can see the south one, under construction.

Right! This is only for Super Bowl weekend. So now, it's over. That's why airport is so extremely busy. Both teams & the fans who came to ATL.

I totally agree with the city's response in its opposition to this legislation. Hartsfield-Jackson is the probably the biggest accomplishment of the city and it happen without the state's involvement but mostly with the federal government and Delta.

City spokeman : “For years, Hartsfield-Jackson International has been lauded as the world’s busiest, most efficient airport, and there is not an iota of evidence the State could improve upon or even maintain that stature. A state take over of the airport in no way guarantees an end to corrupt political figures. It only makes the corruption more palatable to a different segment of the population. This is purely a power grab.

I agree this is a power grab. I agree it won't solve anything. But trying to argue "there's nothing wrong with the way the airport is run/political influence" is flat wrong. I hope that bribery is not palpable to any segment of the population no matter who receives the bribe.

I think that proves there is something wrong with those specific individuals, and they should have the book thrown at them for abusing their power and the trust the city has placed with them. Punishments for these types of offenses should be much more severe to discourage that type of behavior. If a company is caught bribing an official they and their entire leadership team should be eliminated from any future consideration for work from the entire state for life. Plus jail time for those involved on both sides, and significant fines above the total amounts exchanged.
