It looks like the Interlock boutique hotel will be called Bellyard.

Very nice. That reminds of something you might see in Savannah.

Are those 2x4's supporting the balconys? I have noticed that contractors seem to be getting away with using less quality wood on projects these days. This seems like a disaster in the making. Just look at the Fuqua apartments at Madison Yards.

Supported by steel beams. But yes 2x4s in between, should be concrete.

2x4’s are never used in flooring. 2x8 or 2x10 probably which has been the standard for 60 or more years. It’s built to code. They aren’t building to anything less than the code requires. To claim otherwise is absurd. It wouldn’t pass government inspections, architectectural/engineering inspections, finance/banking inspections and any legitimate contractor would not build it due to liability risks or risk of an insurance auditor appearing and writing the contractor up for cancellation.

No it doesn’t have to be or need to be concrete for this scale of development. It’s really no different from a deck on a single family home on this site. Your argument for concrete is outdated. What about T3 at Atlantic Station. Properly engineered wood buildings last as long or longer than concrete will and are more environmentally friendly.

Haha that’s exactly what I had in my mind. I use to to walk by it on my way to work every morning and saw them put up the steel structure first. Took them a VERY long time to do so.

I'm honestly most excited about the gym. I'd love a Lifetime Fitness or Golds Gym.

Downtown is finally getting some much needed love in the new construction residential tower department. There's a crane up ar the residential development behind the 191 building on Peachtree center Dr.

It may or may not be visible from the Grady curve now, but will rise 29 stories once completed.
