Yeah it's a pretty horrible site plan, but understandable given the city isn't building any streets here and that every building needs to have service and fire access.. Really wish we weren't building suburban style developments in the heart of the city.

For a second I was thinking this was the project just north of 10th street and got excited there would be an 11th st extension. If the parcel north of the new Midtown proposal is ever redeveloped, we should really be hoping for at least pedestrian extension if not also street extension.

I haven't seen a rendering but I did find some information from the site plan.

  • Tower A : 100 units, 7 stories, 5 levels of apartments, 2 levels of parking
  • Tower B : 175 units, 7 story apartment building
  • Tower C : 125 units, 12 stories, 7 levels of residential with deck top amenity level
https://aimewebapp.blob.core.windows.net/finalactions/18o1641.pdf
I completely forgot about this proposal.

Well Its a janky development site. Usually breaking up a super block is a positive from an urban standpoint. The fact that the new road doesn't connect to anything makes that a moot point but I don't know what else they could do to develop the site.

Yeha, the block is just too big...you would need to create another street going north-south in the middle of that block to break it up. I don't understand what the early Atlanta city planners were thinking when creating these grids.

The Mix (Apt/Student Housing)

I like the A-Symmetry and the added curves to the balconies and curtain walls.

Over-all, it seems to be well-done, especially for its primary use as student housing.

Not sure about its street presence yet though.

21 Courtland and the office-to-student housing conversion is nearby.

The numbers for GSU on campus housing rivals what being developed in south Midtown IMHO.

Nice photo, you can see the mid rise construction occurring behind it, too. I suspect we’ll continue to see a lot more infill around Lenox HRT station over the years

I went by there this weekend. There are several pieces of equipment on this site and it looks like they have already started clearing the site.
