There is a Town Square concept planned for The Towns/Eastbrook that has retail with apartments/condos above similar to Hill Avenue commercial buildings. The rendering on the billboard shows them surrounding a small park/square. I was skeptical that this would ever get built given the current economic climate, but on my bike ride the other day I noticed they have poured foundations on the North end of Chuka that do not resemble any kind conventional residential builds. So my fingers are crossed as I am hoping for a new local coffee shop!
My initial reaction is that I would rather see these types of developments in the city centre, I've come to realize that from a quality of life perspective it helps to build complete neighbourhoods that allow you to do any number of activities or errands on foot or by bike etc.
