I get it, I like the landscaping along Chinese highways. But when you consider the costs and sheer lengths of road one can understand why that sort of thing doesn't exist here. I suspect that short 'showcase' stretches of landscaped road is probably the best that we're going to get.

One area that is seeing a ton of planting is the 'Highway of Heroes' stretch of the 401 where they are planning to plant 117,000 trees along the highway and 2 million trees within that corridor but not necessarily along the highway. It's about 170 km
They recently rebuilt one of the 401 interchanges here and I can't even imagine the number of trees planted. Atleast 1000 I would say.
